Clone of two sperate 500 GB hard drives to 1 2TB USB passport drive

Thread needs solution

I have a problem I would like to know if there is a way to perform this function.

  1. Two laptops with hard drives
  2. I would like to clone both of these off onto one single 2 TB hard drive.
  3. Is there a way to name the clones e.g. student and instructor?
  4. This way I can install it on other laptops.
  5. The source hard drives are 500 GB
  6. The target for both hard drives is a 2TB passport USB drive

Thank you in advance.

Wayne, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but cloning is a 1:1 action so can never achieve what you are asking to do here as the clone of the second laptop drive would wipe out the clone of the first laptop drive.

See KB 1540: Difference between Backup and Disk Clone - for a more detailed explanation.

You can make separate backups of your two different laptop drives and store these backup image files on your 2TB Passport USB drive.

The backup images can then be used to recover back to the same or a different laptop providing you can meet the Windows license / activation requirements.  This is assuming that Windows 10 is being used and also the same edition has been activated on each laptop.
