cpu keeps being used after backup finished until computer restart
After a backup, full or incremental, has finished, TrueImage.exe carries on using cpu - averaging 17% and varying from 16-20%, for hours and hours until I either kill it or restart the computer. It is not set to validate after backup, and the ATI window does not show anything going on. This always happens after one of my backup schedules, which is of about 2.6 TB of data on a USB HD to a different USB HD, but I think doesn't happen on my other backup schedule of a whole PC backup of all of the C and D internal drives to the same target USB HD.

Aaaargh. I'd set to be notified of replies and never got any notification. Thought there hadn't been any answer.
Problem is till going on, even though I've changed my backup schemes.
Previously I had 2 schemes: one whole computer backup of both C and D drives in the laptop, about 250 GB; the other a files and folder backup of the three big top level folders on an external USB Drive E, about 2.6TB total.
Now I still have the same whole computer c and d drive scheme, but have split the other with one scheme per big top level folder on the external USB Drive E, making one 685 GB, one 25 GB, and one 2 TB.
In all cases, incremental and to the same 6TB USB HD Drive R.
The problem has ONLY been with the original files-and-folder 2.6TB backup of all three big top level folders on the external USB Drive E together, and now is continuing with the backup of the one 2TB top level folder on Drive E, but is NOT happening on the now separate backups of the 685 GB and 25GB top level folders on Drive E (and has never happened with the All PC backup of the laptop internal drives).
It appears the problem is triggered by size - a threshold more than 685GB, less than 2TB.
It always happens with the 2TB backup. The symptoms are the same each time - the backup has finished, the GUI when open shows no backup or validation happening, there are TWO 'Acronis True Image 2019 (32 bit)' entries in the process tab of the Task Manager, one doing nothing, the other constantly showing CPU use wandering up and down between 16% and 20% with my computer fan running very noticeably. It goes on for hours; it resumes after waking the laptop up from sleep in the morning. If there's an eventual time limit, it's longer than I've ever let it go on. It has always only stopped because I rebooted the computer or Ended the task in the Task Manager.
Oh, this is after I've shut the GUI after the backup finished. If I actually start the ATI GUI again to check it still isn't showing itself doing anything, a THIRD instance of that process appears and uses a few % in the cpu. If I shut the Gui again, the 3rd instance disappears from the Task Manager, but the other two remain with the one carrying on with the 16-20% cpu.
So, as in Steve Smith's reply, if that process is just the ATI GUI, I suppose that means it isn't actually really doing anything after the backup has finished and it is OK for me to just end the task. Annoying, but tolerable. But are we SURE it's not doing anything that means killing it will mess something important up? I can't think what it would be doing, but still ...

David, thanks for the update. If you are seeing TrueImage.exe taking CPU when the ATI GUI is not open, then that is something that I have not seen for any of my backups and you may need to consider raising a Support Case with Acronis to ask why this is happening, especially if you have received notification that the backup has completed successfully.

Aha. Now notifications of replies are working!
Right, I will raise a support case about it. Thanks.
