Aconis True Image 2011 keeps requesting Windows credentials ?
Having read previous posts on this peculiar problem I am also having this problem, I did not create any so called Windows credentials when installing W7 (64) so I am at a loss as to how to give non existent login details when trying to back-up Windows Mail. As other posts have commented you can clone the whole disk successfully without getting this dialog box , but you are not allowed to back-up emails! This is ludicrous and very annoying , apparently there is currently no workaround for this, other users have gone to the lengths of re-installing the OS and creating credentials just to continue to get the same message!. If anyone out there has a fix please let me know. I have only just installed Acronis TI 2011 and am very disapointed as I expected an easy and intuitive user interface without all this hassle!

Same here. I am prompted for credentials that don't exist and instructed by ATI2011 to uncheck NT User Atuthorization which doesn't exist in the settings. Also, ATI2011 doesn't recognize Windows 7 Homegroup shares. What's up? Acronis used to be the easiest, most intuitive product going. Doesn't seem so anymore.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your posts. I will definitely help you.
Even if you did not create Windows credentials when installing your OS, your account name is still there. In the credentials name you will need to specify that account name and if there is no password, simply leave the field blank.
For instructions I can recommend the following KB article:
- Acronis True Image Home 2011: Manual E-mail Backup Prompts for Credentials
I am sorry for any inconvenience and we will have it addressed in Update 1.
If you have additional questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

I'm not trying to backup Outlook, just a bog-standard full system backup (un-scheduled). I'm being asked for Windows Credentials and have spent the last 25 minutes going round and round your site trying to find a simple answer. Why do you make everything so complicated, user-hostile, and generally unintuitive? Create customer sucess??? - more like create customer frustration and anger.
So, please can you tell me what credentials I'm supposed to input - I have no idea.

Another day passes without a reply. What a hopeless company you are.

Charles,
Are you backing up via a network or to a NAS?
What OS are you using and which version and build of True Image?
Do you have autologon to your desktop or enter a password?

Just backing up to a stand-alone HD, Windows 7 64 bit and am using whatever the latest version is (it just auto-updated a day or so ago.) Anyway, to cit along story short I uninstalled the lot (mainly out of sheer frustration), then re-installed and now I'm NOT getting prompted for any passwords or whatever. No idea what's going on, but I wasted hours faffing around yesterday on this, so not best pleased.

With Windows 7 64 bit it was hell to get to backup to a mapped drive. I ended up having to let support person from Acronis take control of my computer to observe how they would attempt to solve this. It was uncussefull for many attempts then for no reason, sudently the backup accepted the path-username and password credential to the specific location. The person from Acronis ask me what did just append, she could not figure why suddently it was working.. Since then, all automated backup to network drive are working with the save credentials BUT :
If I attempt to create another backup to the same location, with the same credentials, it wil fail and fail again ??? Furthermore, if I use the browse for backup option then again credential are asked for the mapped drive, I fill those out the exact way that the automated backup credentials were entered and all I have is failling. I have spent a lot of time in Windows security to remove all possible security issue around this ie: administrator level, sharing to every one, full access granted, firewall settings, certificate of security, credentials manager etc... Always the same mess with Acronis True Image 11, credential nightmare for mounted mapped drive showing in Windows 7 perfectly configure and working on all levels for all other apps. Acronis should look into this very seriouly, it's bugged. My son, is a computer ingeneer of the highest qualification, he look at that and simply told me that the program was at fault...

Claude,
Acronis products prefer UNC access to shared/network drives rather than mapped ones. As for your crednetials problem, with W7 check the entries in Windows Credential Manager, these might need to be deleted so that TIH can enter up to date credentials.
You mention TI 11, are you using TI 11 or TI 2011? These are two very different versions, and TI 11 is not Windows 7 ready.

Claude,
In addition to Colin's point, make sure you don't have an drive mapped to the computer ATI backs up to, active on the computer where ATI runs.

I am running ATI Home 2011 PLus pack Updqte 2 build 6857 with a Dell Studio 7100 Raid 0, Windows 7 64 bits. All credentials have been erase and redone with same results on ATI. It's true that if you use path entry line instead of trying to use mapped drive ATI will have some results in credentials but it's not steady, still, I think program is at fault many times on trying to redo the exact same operations on mounted or with direct network path. For exemple : Browse asking credentials and not responding for finding ongoying working automated backups to working and reconize network location by ATI is nonsence. Do you do beta testing ? I am not the only one with this, browse Internet, you will see...
My point is that your program is fonctionning after fooling around, my network backups are working but it's not with ease and not at all user frendly. It was a fight to do it even for one of your own staff taking control of my machine. Results are OK but overhall process is strange and not at all 100% fluid. I am sure that you can improve at least with better help direct context lines on the sotware.

Claude, it should only ask for your credentials once, apart from when you make a new task, then it will always ask for a credential.
Is your version of ATIH the French language version?
I know that Dell systems can cause problems, but I don't think in this case that is the cause of your problem.

I am running Windows version in french but Acronis is on ENglish version. Has for new task, it's normal it would ask for credential but not normal not responding to same exact credentials like the one working already in an automated backup. Just strange, try to take a look in there, I manage to get everything going now smoothly and your program is running OK but still, I consider important that you have those feedback...

This morning I tried to make a clone copy of a WORKING network backup. This backup is backing "My Documents" to my wife machine (\\JOHANNE-PC\Users\Johanne\Mes Documents\ATT-PAS JETER\) and it as been working perfectly since I manage to have credentials finally accepted by ATI.
I made a clone copy of it (same everything, path, location, content etc...) and I wanted to change the type of version chain and the name of this backup. Total failure, it will simply not accept the original credential for it, does not make any sence, ATI is simply totally bugged with this... Failed to connect all the time.

Claude,
From other posters who studied the network connections, it looks like there is an issue with ATI where it leaves open connection sessions to the target computer, until the maximum number of connection is reached on that computer and it cannot go through.
If you shutdown the target computer and origin computer, reboot them, remove mapped drives on the computer that is backed up, it should close all these sessions.
Then, click on destination, use the network folder to navigate to your target share, and then enter your credentials.

Did all that - Erase all map drives on both computers - Reboot both - Clone the working ATI backup, change to custom scheme and edit name of backup - ATI ask for credentials - Failed to connect with good credentials, also tried with different form of credential input with or without \\ or \ at beginning, with or without the path in front of user etc-etc...
Computer path is \\Johanne-PC - User is : johanne, I tried for user at credential windows popping from ATI the suggested path from original working backup and it's is not working = Johanne-PC\Johanne - tried also: \\Johanne-PC\Johanne or simply Johanne or \Johanne with working password same results "Failed to connect". What is strange about this is that the original backup at the same network place with same credentials is working automatically each day ???
Thanks in advance for looking into this,
Regards,
Claude

Claude,
If instead of cloning you just recreate a new task, does it make a difference?
ATI stores its scripts in c:\programdata\Acronis\TrueimageHome or in c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\Acronis\Trueimagehome on xp. If you right click on the scripts and choose edit, you should see the crendentials that ATI has for the location. The pasword is encrypted, but are the credentials identical?

New task is the same, when you browse for destination etheir you choose in windows -network-destination computer - the it will ask for credential with a proposition of path and user name that should be correct - pasword is a bunch of star symbols - I tried with password and also "enter-OK" directly same result cannot access but if try again it ends with ATI as stop functionning in Windows. This appens during validation of credentials. I tried also, entering directly the complete working path plus file name in the file name box then after hitting OK arrow same process failiong and resulting after a few attempts to closing ATI.
Furthermore, if I simply want to edit the working network backup, like changing scheme then save it, ATI will try to access then propose credential and fail. If I close program, I reopen, then save as not been made to this still working backup but with the original settings ???
As for the edit of script I am in Win7 64 bit and here is the following script, no visible credentials :
-----
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
1.0

I don't see anything wrong with your script.
So if I understand the situation, ATI doesn't validate network connection for a working task that you modify or a brand new task, ie different name and different folder destination.
Editing tasks often brake ATI, and putting backups in the same folder can create issues as well.
I would try to uninstall ATI, reboot and reinstall. Other than that, I am running out of ideas.

It appears that ATI was not in fault for that behavior. A defective Network printer was in cause. The printer was creating a delay in the reaction time to network request causing ATI to wait then ask for credential and not getting a fast usual response . Printer is now remove and I can modify existing backup or create new.
Very sorry to have taken too much of your time, you have been helpfull and very patient.
Best regards,

Claude, which network printer was it?

It's an Epson Work Force 630. Today, I downloaded their new version for Windows 7 64 bits from their site and they acknowledged the problem for network printing in this specific platform. They are now telling users not to use anymore the software comming out of the box ! Hope this will now wortk...
