Exclusions Not Working
I only want Acronis 2018 to backup my C: drive.
My C; drive has 362 Gigabytes of used space.
My current backups total 3.5 Terabytes.
This is a mess.
In addition to the defaults, I have set these exclusions:
C:\Video D:\ *.mp4 *.avi *.m4v
Each on a separate line in "Exclusions".
But, my backed up files includes some if not all of my D: drive and all of those video file types.
How to I solve this problem, and how do I limit the size of the backed up files?
Thanks,
John

Thanks so much for responding Steve.
1) So, I see, I have to create a backup and follow your directions about what to select. How do I then exclude files in this newly selected "Source" which in my case is the partition for my C; drive?
2) What do I do about the 3.4 tb of backups that was created by my original, poorly created backup? Do I just delete the backup definition, and then all of the backups that were created?
Thanks,
John

Yup, I'd start with a new backup task. Select only the desired disk as the source. For the exclusions, make sure to get the exact path (with upper and lower case being sensitive). It's easier if you copy the path exactly from file explorer if you are excluding an entire folder.
If you have space, wait until the new backup is complete, just in case. Then yeah, if you want to get all that space back, delete the entire old backup FROM WITHIN ACRONIS to keep it simple.

John, dealing with your questions in reverse order...
Deleting your 3.4TB of backup data is the easy part and the decision point here is whether you want to keep any of that data until after you have setup your new backup regime or not?
The first step perhaps should be to use the task menu and take the Delete option for this task, but elect to only remove the task settings, not the task and all of the files created by it. Removing the task from the ATI GUI will allow you to delete any or all of the associated backup files at will, providing that you first turn off Acronis Active Protection (assuming this is active).
For the initial question, select the option to 'Add backup' (at the bottom of the left panel), then when the new task shows, click on the Source, then select Disks & Partitions, and select only the partitions you want to include. Next, click on Destination and choose where the backup will be stored.
Once that is done, click on Options, and now you can set your further Exclusions for specific file types by using a file mask, i.e. *.mp4 *.avi *.m4v, but use the selection area on the right of entry box to choose any folders to exclude such as C:\Video by using the 'Browse for file' panel that is shown after clicking on the [...] area.
When you are done, then check that the task has an appropriate name / use the Rename option to change the default supplied name given from Acronis, then finally click on the Back up now button to save and run the new task.

Thanks so much for all of your incredible help.
I have followed your instructions, and I am running a new backup now.
Have a great weekend.
