Super slow acronis cloud download speed, lost customer
I am totally shocked at how slow the download is. I im getting 50kbs on ma 100mbit line. I was thinking about extending my trial, but this is just so bad it is not worth a single cent. customer lost.

Are you downloading or uploading? Upload speeds from ISP's are generally disproportiniate. For instance, I get 100Mbps download from Comcast, but only 10Mbps upload... and my actual upload (to any site) is usually really closer to 4-5Mbps.
The Cloud is slow when uploading due to these limitations from ISP's. Personally, I would never choose cloud as my primary backup source. However, I do recommend it as a secondary or third option for offsite because even a slow offsite is better than nothing at all if your main backups are lost, stolen or damaged (fire, earthquake, power outage, etc.). The rule of thumb for any backup is 3-2-1 (minimum)... 3 copies of data, at least 2 different media types for backups and at least 1 offsite.
You may also want to open a support ticket with Acronis and have them check the server you're connecting to to ensure it's the closest one and verify if there are any outages or issues at present. If you're US based, but connecting to a European server or something, your speeds will be worse too.

"I am totally shocked at how slow the download is."
Please read the post properly before answering. As a side note: My upload is 40mbps and uploading my files worked like a charm.

Everyone knows (or at least should know) that rule. But this is not the topic. I am just complaining about how slow their download is and that this is not worth the premium they are asking for it. Which is sad, because the product itself seemed nice. But honestly what use is an offsite backup that will take me weeks to download?

I am sitting in Germany and am connected to the Eu servers which are supposed to be in Germany, too. So that cannot be the issue.

I read the post just fine. However, I wanted to confirm as this "topic" has come up in many of the 2016-2019 threads and people still often say they are downloading when in fact, they are uploading data to the cloud which is usually the problem with slowness.
I'd suggest you open a support ticket directly with Acronis technical support. Nothing the forum "users" (like myself) can do to help speed things up, only provide possible suggestions to look for or test.
One last suggestion (although not on topic either, but may be helpful). When coming to a forum for assistance, you're likely to get more help from "users" working with them instead of griping at them when someone takes the time to post a response. Best of luck to your situation and any technical support case you may open directly with Acronis.

sorry, if i came across rude. I am well aware that most of the time the problem of a PC sits right in front of it. So i can understand your double checking. You could not possibly know that you are talking to someone who is a developer himself.
I guess you are right that the forum won't be able to help me here and a ticket is the only solution. So thanks for that advice!

As far as Incan work out it is not the downloading that is slow: it is the creation of the file that is slow. The resulting zip file starts downloading before its creation has finished, and it can appear to your PC that the connection has been lost when the download stalls waiting for another chunk to become available for download. This problem would be avoided if download did not start until the creation of zip file has completed.

That is really good info. So is there a way to create the zip in advance?

Unfortunately it is not possible. I have requested this option be made available without success

FWIW I've just encountered the slow download issue - 4 hours for True Image. After some Googling I managed to track down Live Chat on the Acronis website, and they sent me a link that took I think less than 5 minutes to download. I'm not sure why they don't provide that link in the first place, but at least there is a solution.

Shirley, thank for that information. Seems the have a last come to realisation that the download problems are caused at their end, not at the user end. However, having to go to web chat to get the problem solved is not good enough. It should be re-engineered so that it works properly in the first place.
