Backup File Disappeared

Thread solved

I am new to all of this.  I moved a backup from an external drive to a new external drive.  Now, I cannot find the backup on either drive.  I am running Windows 7 Pro 6-Bit.  Can someone help with this?

Ila, welcome to these public User Forums.

When you moved the backup file, did you rename it or lose the file extension (.tib) in doing so?

What does Windows Explorer show for the new external drive folder & file contents?

What version of Acronis True Image are you using here?

What format / file system is your new external drive using?  Is this NTFS, FAT32, exFAT or something else?

What size is your new external drive?

I did not rename it.

It is empty

Ture Image 2019

exFAT

What size is your new external drive?

4 TB

Ila, do you remember seeing any pop-up messages from Acronis Active Protection when moving your .tib file?  AAP is integrated into ATI 2019 and its purpose is to prevent malware / ransomware from attacking .tib files among other things, so it may be that AAP prevented the file from being moved to your new drive?

I would double-check your old external drive where the file was before you tried to move it.

If you have any deleted file recovery programs such as Piriform Recuva, then ask this to look on your original drive to see if the file is there but has been flagged as being deleted?

I did not see a pop up, but there was a red X in one of the windows.  I thought it was because I tred to move the file incorrectly, but I thought I fixed the problem when the 'move' seemed to work.  Thank you so much for the advice about Recuva.  It found the file on the new hard drive.  I am recovering it to a different drive, as suggested by Recuva.  What would you suggest I do next?  I want to attempt to move it to the new drive again.

Turn off AAP via the icon in the system tray, or else on the AAP page of the ATI 2019 GUI before attempting to move the file to the new drive.
