Why did Acronis 2019 delete my old BU?

Thread needs solution

WTH? I have a b/u sitting on my HDD. I launch Acronis and create a new b/u, and it deletes the old one???

Sorry but too little information to work with here?

What backup scheme are you using with what settings?  Screen images will help.

Download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link below) and check if the log for the new backup offers any clues as to why your old backup file was removed?

The scheme is either full pc, or disk/part. Any way to check which one?

What settings - should I list all of them? I see nothing that speaks to removal/deletion of old B/Us.

I looked at the google drive for the MVP, and see four folders. Which one?

Screen below.

Thank you.

MVP Log Viewer available from Community Tools page.

Please click on Options for your Disk backup task, then select the Backup scheme page tab.

What is shown for the top Backup scheme: selection box?

What is shown for the Backup method: selection box?

For example, on the same page for my main OS disk backup task I have:

Backup scheme: Custom

Backup method: Incremental

Create a full version after every 5 incremental versions.

Old version cleanup rules:

Store no more than 2 recent version chains.

The above settings mean that I should always have 2 backup version chains on my destination drive but when a new 3rd Full chain is started, then the oldest version chain will be removed after the new Full backup file has been created successfully.

Thank you for that.

I see the issue now.

It is currently set to 'Single Version scheme', which creates a single bu vers, and overwrites it every time.

I have changed the scheme to Custom / Full. This should take care of it.

Glad I had a bu of the bu on an ext. HDD.

Cheers.

Glad the issue is sorted - thank you for the update.
