Access BIOS from computer

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis True Image 2009 on a pc running Windows 7. I use a third party program to access my home computer from a remote computer. Since I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, I have been unable to wake up my home computer from a remote computer after I put my home computer to sleep. The third party program supports has given me the following solution: "For a Windows PC that is powered off (but still plugged in), confirm that Wake on LAN is enabled in the computer's BIOS." I am unable to access my home computer's BIOS. Nothing happens when I press the F2 key at computer start-up. I have a similar problem in not being able to start my computer in safe mode. In both cases, I think Acronis has somehow blocked my ability to access the BIOS or to start in safe mode. I appreciate any help a forum member can give me.

Nothing Acronis does would block BIOS access.

Are you sure F2 is the correct key to enter the BIOS? The DEL key is quite common. Usually, the key is displayed on the screen when the computer starts.

To get the Safe Mode menu usually requires pressing the F8 key multiple times at startup so you don't miss the extremely short period of time Windows allows for it.

Check the settings for the NIC in the Device Manager. Usually, the "wake" options are in there. It may just be a setting since it worked okay with Vista.
