Dear All,

Thanks for your time to check this.

We had a server no responding for the acronis backup server, so we had to cold restart it.  After we login to the windows system, the Acronis backup server was not up running, when we check the services.msc we found the following service not start.

Acronis Management Server service

Acronis service manager service

when we try to start the service manually, we got error .\ams user logon failure.

you can check the screenshot in attachment.

Please help me if any of  you have any idea on this.

Hi jason!

Throwing in some ideas:

During install which option did you choose for ams login? New account or service account? If it's a new account you have to ensure domain policies don't affect this account. I'm thinking of stuff like changed group membership, changed password policies, password policy rejecting the acronis password etc. All of which would be applied when you logged in after the restart.

Also Does the windows event log have more info on the logon error?

Hello Jason,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

This error message indicates that login credentials for ams user have been changed.

Open Windows Services (Start -> Search -> type services.msc and press Enter) and change login credentials for Acronis Management Server and Acronis service manager services.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for the reply.  I will try your suggestion.  But more over, I want to understand why this happened, I am sure the password is not changed manually by us.

Hello Jason,

most likely that somebody has changed the password for the account that Acronis services have been using.
