WD MyBook 6 TB as rescue device problem

Thread needs solution

Hi,

i thought i can use ACI easily with WD MyBook. But failed.

When i like it to have as bootable resuce device, ACI creates 2 partitions and formats only

one of those with 2 TB with FAT 32.

4 TB get lost this way.

Can anyone say how to get full 6 TB usable and still have MyBook as bootable rescue device ?

Thank you

Unfortunately you seem to have approached the problem from the wrong direction. You appear to have used ATI 2019 to create recovery media on the WD drive. What you really needed to do was to create a survival kit. You do that by creating a backup to the USB device and selecting "create survival kit" as part of the process.

Look at section 2.4 of the ATI 2019 user guide with discusses how to create a survival kit.

If you have further questions, please post back.

Also, what is your OS (Win 7, 8, 8.1 or 10... is it 32-bit or 64-bit... and is it installed in legacy/MBR mode or UEFI/GPT mode)?

And then, what about the 6TB drive?  It needs to be GPT to be able to access more than 2TB as this is a Windows limitation.

Overall requirements for a non-bootable data volume

For a system to be able to address the maximum capacity of a device that has a storage capacity of more than 2 TB, the following prerequisites apply:

  • The disk must be initialized by using GPT.
