Continue with existing backup after cloning?

Thread needs solution

I just got a new larger capacity SSD to replace my existing OS C: drive SSD, and have successfully cloned it to the new SSD.

Can I continue backing up as normal, or will I have to create a new backup?

I would recommend reselecting your Source for your backup task after changing to using the cloned SSD because I would expect some differences to be encountered due to new hardware being found.

My backup is a custom incremental set to CREATE ONLY INCREMENTAL VERSION AFTER THE INITIAL FULL VERSION.

If I re-select the Source for the backup task, will the backup continue doing incremental versions, or will it do a new full version?

Difficult to say without actually running the backup after reselecting the source.  Alternatively, you could just try to run the backup 'as is' and see if it throws an error about the source not being found?

How many incremental files have already been created for this backup task?

Personally, I would never use 'incrementals forever' as my backup scheme!  Sorry but damage or corruption to just a single file within a long chain of incrementals will break the chain at that point and render all following files useless!

The backup worked without having to re-select the source, and the new SSDs brand name and model details are listed also.
