No update as I was expecting today

Thread solved

I started the ATI UI and expected to get a message about the update.

I definitely have checked the option to Automatically check for updates at startup.

And my Account tab says I'm running build 20600 and the product is up to date.

Do updates get rolled out so as to prevent server overloads?

I got the update with no issue Bruno so looks like it may be phased in across the geographies.

I got it yesterday at first launch too - Bruno and I are close in proximity so I would expect he'd get it as well.  It might depend on the options in the app?  Bruno, do you have the check for new updates box selected?

However, I ended up getting the full downloader from my account instead.  I have just gotten in the habit of updating with it since previous versions seem to sometimes fail if something gets stuck during extraction and left over in the users temp directory.

Bruno may need to close out of the ATI GUI and then relaunch it again?

The issue is a little more involved and I don't quite know what to do no.

From the Account page in the ATI UI, I click the arrow next to my account email and select My account.

This opens up the browser and logs me in to my Acronis account. Everything looks correct there. But, when I click the Downloads link for any of the products it goes into a permanent waiting state and I never see and available downloads.

I thought it may have been a problem with the Acronis downloads server, but when I log into my account from my other PC, it works fine and I see the downloads.

Sounds like a full Windows restart may be the first option here Bruno?

Or maybe try a different browser as a test from the problem machine?  If it's working on one computer and not the other, I don't think it would be your account.  However, if other browsers also fail, you may want to shoot Ekaterina a PM to double check since you recently obtained an MVP badge and want to make sure there is no conflict with how the account may have been updated as a result (just to be sure).

I had this problem, too - both with the initial GA release of ATI 2020 and with this update. My version of the problem is specifically related to FireFox and the NoScript addon.

My regular browser - FireFox - would go into that permanent wait. With Chrome, it worked fine.

I tried FireFox again. I have the NoScript addon and even though it showed no blocked scripts I had it display script status and found some blocked scripts. I went through two more iterations of unblocking scripts and suddenly FireFox would download the file.

I see that the NoScipt addon is now available for Chrome.  Chrome users with NoScript might also have this problem.

OK, I've solved one problem. I run the NoScript Firefox add-in and I need to trust scripting from cloudflare.com. Once that was done I could see the downloads.

I then removed the check option in ATI. Restarted ATI and set the check option. Restarted again but no luck. I rebooted Windows and no luck.

When I look at the downloads, I do see #20770, but here's the kicker. On my other PC that runs ATI 2019, it shows #20770 (latest), but on my test PC running ATI 2020 it shows #20770 (undefined). I'm sure that's why it fails to update, but I have no idea why it should show as undefined.

Glad that you figured out about the No Script addon with Firefox - I have used it in the past but don't use it currently - I have Firefox as my default browser.

I have now discovered that when I get to my Products page, the first time I click on a Downloads button (for any of the listed products), the latest item shows (undefined). But after that I can click on any Downloads button and they show as (latest).

Still not being automatically presented with the update. I'm hesitant to manually download and install, hoping I can find a reason for this odd behaviour.

As it looks to be browser based, have you tried clearing all cache, cookies, history, etc. closing the browser and reopening and trying again?  Maybe there is something cached from the blocked script upon earlier attempts?  Also, is it the same version of FireFox on this machine and the working one?  What does IE, Edge or Chrome show for comparison?

Bobbo, I think the browser issues are no more. But I don't think ATI would be using the browser to present an update.

No, the browser problems would be only related to a manual download. I suspect if the ATI GUI is not showing an available update in the Account tab, then your Acronis account may also not have it available for download.  Having the two tied together sort of makes sense.

Your not having the download available (by either means) does not make much sense, though.  Even if they are doing a rolled availability I would think you would see it by now, but maybe not.  Maybe you should just wait a few days and see what happens.

Now that sounds like a browser problem.  Can you tell (by looking at the page source) if the two browsers are giving you the same page?   I haven't run into a cached page problem for years, but that - as Bobbo suggested - sure sounds like one.  Or maybe a cookie problem.  I'm not sure what will be lost if you clear out all Acronis cookies, but it might be worth a try.  Alternatively, one script that's working on one PC could be blocked on the other.  (That's pretty unlikely, I think.)

So now that I'm beyond browser issues, I'm still trying to figure out how to get ATI to present the update.

Latest test, I sign out from the ATI UI Account page. Once I do that, it goes into trial mode and checks for updates, telling me there is an update available.

I then sign in again. It connects to my subscription just fine and tells me there is an update available. Instead of clicking on that to get the update, I switch to the Backup page. When I go back to the account page, it seems to do a check again and then tells me I am up to date.

My subscription is definitely valid so I am at a loss.

Could be a corrupt installation; you could try running a repair installation.

I received notifications of the new build on two PCs I have used since the release, and in each case I got a popup saying new version available and (I think) a message when I launched the app. In one case when I did the update from within ATI it behaved stranegly - I suspect somehow it downloaded the prior version - so I had redo the installation.

Ian

I am having the undefined issue aswell, running Edge Dev

4 installations with 20600 not one of them notifies for updates to 20770. see here

Hello Everyone,

I believe we didn't enable the in-product notification about the hotfix, as it addresses only one particular issue. I'll clarify this.

Thank you Ekaterina, I already thought about this could have happened by design, yet Steve said he got the announcement.

My colleagues also confirm that the in-product notifications have been enabled indeed, reported the issue to the product team. Thank you!

I think I figured it out.

The fix in the new version is related to cloud backups. I did not have any backups to the cloud. So I just created a small cloud backup and ran it. After that, I exited the UI and restarted. Voila! The update is offered!

Good work Bruno!  I definitely have various cloud backup tasks so that would explain why I had no issues seeing the new hotfix update.

👍 well combined Mr. Watson 😉 @BrunoC

Is it working for you, Karl?

I am seeing now update notifications in
W10 notification center
Systray > Acronis notification center
Acronis > Account

on all pending 20600 devices, even without cloud jobs. Thank you Ekaterina / Renata and team.

No, having cloud backups is not required, we just fixed it on our side :)

Thanks very much, Ekaterina. It's so funny that you fixed it during the five minutes it took me to run my test.
