True Image Home 2009 secure zone creation killed my partition table

Thread needs solution

I attempted to create a secure zone on my C: drive. During the file system resize and partition table change, I got a message saying that there were too many free blocks, followed by the system rebooting. This is where I am stuck, a partition table that is damaged, and no way to restore the partition table. I suspect(on thinking about it), that the resize only works on secure zone sizes under 4GB(32 bit limit). That doesn't help me NOW though.

Does anyone know how I might be able to repair my partition table and get my NTFS filesystem operational?

Well, nothing I could find would allow me to fix the problem, and I have lost a good amount of data from my drives. On day 6 of doing a data recovery on the drives trying to recover my critical information. So, word of advice to everyone, don't use the stupid Secure Zone since Acronis can't handle anything larger than 4GB.

The SZ can handle partitions greater than 4GB (there isn't any 32-bit type size limit).

It sounds like there may have been partition errors or file system errors present before creating the SZ. In addition, it's generally best to boot to the TI CD for procedures that will require a reboot from Windows. This gives you more control of the process and also lets you verify that TI sees everything correctly before it starts.

I know it doesn't help now, but it's recommended to create an Entire Disk Image backup of a drive before making any partitioning changes. This is true even when using programs that try to make the changes without any data loss and it doesn't only apply to Acronis programs -- it can happen with any program.
