Quiesce fails on VC HA passive node
Hello,
In our ESXi 6.5 cluster we use vCenter high availability. This means that we have two vCenter VMs and a third one for the witness role, literally following the recommended VMware instructions.
The problem is that the backup of the passive VC and witness nodes are completed with warnings relative to snapshot quiesce. As far as I know, these VMs, have the vCenter related services inactive. Maybe this is the cause of the problem.
Any suggestions?

Hello Maria,
The problem is not related to the VMware tools. If I switch the this VM to active node then there is no problem. But the problem appears to the new passive VM which had no problem when it was active.
I think that you should check the VC HA architecture in order to find a solution.

Hello Athanasioos.
I think that you should check the VC HA architecture in order to find a solution.
Acronis Backup 12.5 makes screenshots of VMWare VMs with the help of VMWare API.
We recommend that you check if VM snapshot works correctly. (as described in this KB article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/4559)
If it can't create a quiesced snapshot for any reason for three times in a row, then it creates a non-quiesced snapshot.
Otherwise, if the backed up VM does not run a database, you can disable quiescing of VMs via VSS by turning off Volume Shadow Copy for virtual machines. With quiescing disabled, the VM will be backed up in crash-consistent state.
