Intel NUC Backup creation
Hi All ,
New to the forum , I've used Acronis 2013-17-20 with good effect however at the moment im using 2020 and im trying to back up to a network storage folder on another system.
I've overcome the initial issue with the boot drive and booted into windows with the Windows PE and loaded all the Intel NUC's drivers . with this the Intel NUC's ethernet drivers arnt able to be loaded as its an .exe file. to get round this ive bought a USB to ethernet device and its picked up the network . Great stuff .
So now I can find the network stoarge and connect to the storage , when I do a backup of the drive it fails in around 1 Minuet in the logs it states loss of network. I've tried many different Cat5 cabels and different network storage devices.
Has any one else had this same issue and is able to assist ?
Thank you .

Jhon Doe what version is your WinPE for the rescue media you created? I believe the Windows 10 ADK 1809/1903 already have default drivers for all of the current Intel Ethernet adapters. Did you build the rescue media as WinPE (using Windows ADK), or did you use the WinRE method for the system? As for getting the correct drivers for the Ethernet adapter, if for some reason they are still missing, rebuild the WinPE using the ADK method and be sure to download and install the latest Windows 10 1903 ADK and the PE add on that goes with it. Reboot after installing and then rebuild your rescue media and see if it finds the adapter correctly or not.
If not, then grab the Intel NUC Ethernet adapter drivers directly from Intel and inject them into the build with the latest ADK as well. This is a large .zip file from Intel and once extracted, will contain the .inf version of drivers for all current Intel Adapters. Find the correct one and include them in your rescue media build.

As for the disconnect - that's anyone's guess here. It could be the USB adapter / USB port, it could be a router/switch issue, it could be your other system going into power save, we really have no way of knowing. If you rebuild the ADK and the default adapter still has this behavior, going with Steve's recommendation to take a local backup first to USB and copying it to the network share later, may be a good alternative unless you can troubleshoot the disconnect from your end to pinpoint the exact problem and resolve it.

Hi...i have a different set of queries. If i image the ssd + optane drive and later restore it to the ssd it should boot? No issues with the files on the optane? The info seems lacking regarding imaging and restoring after hw failure. One "failsafe" way would be to disable optane , then backup and enable it again.

Greeting Marco.
Acronis has not yet (apparently) addressed the issues caused by Optane drives. It gets really complicated when dealing with Optane drives as they can be used as Cache drive or in the same way as an ordinary SSD. When being used as a Cache drive disabling the Cache may well work, but different kettle of fish if it is being used as an ordinary SSD.
