Back-up Replication

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I recently tried to do a backup replication which several times now as got to less than a minute remaining but never finishes. It doesn't take long to get to this state but the longest I've let it stay there for is seven hours overnight.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Many thanks,

Andrew

Andrew, welcome to these public User Forums.

More questions than answers at this point.

What is the size of your backup that you are wanting to replicate to the Acronis Cloud?

What is the upload speed for your connection to the internet (normally expressed as Mbps, i.e. mega-bit per second <not megabytes>)?

How long did it take to create the local full backup file for this replication task?

Where is that local full backup file stored?  (Is this on a local internal or external drive?)

Andrew, I don't have any specific answers, but there is something that goes on at the end of some backups and restores that can take a very long time.  I'm pretty sure that ATI just fails to accurately estimate that length of time this final function can take.  I assume this same inaccurate estimation happens with replication.

My impression (based on no hard evidence) is that this final step lasts proportionally longer when the destination is a NAS than when it is a local drive so I would not be surprised if is even worse for a cloud destination.

A couple month ago I did a "Files and folders" recovery of the contents of a NAS drive.  A full backup of the drive takes about an hour.  The recovery process claimed "Less than 1 minute" after around that same amount of time (maybe 90 minutes - I don't really remember) and as near as I could tell, all files and folders had been recovered.  However, ATI stayed at the "Less than 1 minute" state for many more hours.

I have no idea if this is a bug or if ATI is just greatly underestimating the length of a (justifiably) lengthy process.
