Authentication to restore a file

Thread needs solution

Hi I have recently upgraded to the latest version 21400 of true Image, and I now need to restore a file from one of my backups which is on a NAS drive. It has done a backup recently which was successful. When I open the backup and ask to restore it now asks me for a password. I have no passwords on any of my NAS drives and i cannot now restore the files i need.
How do i get round this problem.

Thanks in advance.

Terry, welcome to these public User Forums.

When you created the backup to your NAS did you take the option to encrypt it?
You can check this in the main ATI GUI by looking at your backup task, then see if you see as shown below at the bottom of the Destination panel for your NAS location?

If the backup was encrypted then you need to provide the password you used when opening the file for any recovery or restore actions.

Hi Steve

No there is no encryption on the backup. I have checked the NAS drive and this too has no log in or password attached to it. For some reason it is only this backup which is giving the issue all the others are fine.

Terry, sounds very strange and almost as if the backup has been modified / corrupted in some way?  I have not seen any other users reporting such issues in the forums so it looks to be unique to you at present.

Acronis have just released Update #2 build 22510 today for ATI 2020 which I would recommend installing - it should be offered on the Account page in the GUI.

Probably best to create a new backup of the problem source data.  Do you have any other backups where you could restore specific files from if needed?

I have no passwords on any of my NAS drives

I gather this means you are using public shares.   I have seen some software that doesn't understand public shares, but I don't think ATI is one of them.  (The Windows NET USE command requires a bogus userid and password when mapping a public share.)
