Error 0x1480006 with Acronis 2020

Thread needs solution

I have created a boot flash drive using the Acronis Media Builder in Acronis True Image 2020 I get this error when booting from the flash drive: Video mode setup error: Error 0x1480006: Invalid video framebuffer parameters The PC is an HP Engage One AiO, Model 145 with UEFI I prefer to stick to the Linux option I thought this issue had been resolved with the 2020 version?

Vic, welcome to these public User Forums.

Have you tested creating the WinPE / WinRE version of the Acronis Rescue Media to see if you still see the video mode issue?  If this issue has been fixed by Acronis then this is where it would be shown as they are moving away from using the Linux media.

Hi Steve

Thank you for the quick response and Happy New Year!

Sorry I took so long to respond: I was waiting for an email to say that my post had had a response but maybe the forum doesn't work that way?

I tried the WinPE / WinRE version but the interface was terrible and it didn't load the "manage this machine locally" screen

We need the IP Address that is generated on that screen so that we can connect remotely to the PC using Acronis Backup and Recovery Management console to do a restore remotely

Vic, you appear to be mixing two different Acronis products here?

The Acronis True Image 2020 product is not the same as Acronis Backup & Recovery, which if you are working with the latter, then you should only be using that product not mixing this with ATI 2020.

Please see KB 1689: Backup archive compatibility across different product versions - which shows how ABR and ATI can interact, but where there is nothing shown with regard to ATI 2020 and ABR.

Hi Steve

I’m only using Acronis 2020 as a stand-alone product on a test PC in my office so that I could use the latest Acronis Media Builder tool for creating an updated USB boot drive

Our retail stores are still on Acronis 11.7 client

All the store PCs (Dell or Lenovo) have legacy BIOS and we have no issues with booting up with the current USB boot drive (which is issued to every store) and letting the Linux program load
Once the “manage this machine locally” window appears and an IP address is generated then we can use our Acronis Console to connect and remotely restore a backed up image from the NAS that every store has.

The problem has arisen because:

  1. We are trialing a different brand of computer: an HP all-in-one PC
  2. We want to use UEFI boot

When I try to boot with a WinPE / WinRE flash drive the "manage my machine locally" window does not appear so I can't remotely do an image restore

Vic, I would recommend raising this in the Acronis Backup 11.7 forum where other users may be better placed to help you with that product, rather than attempting to mix ATI 2020 with AB 11.7.

Hi Steve

On second thoughts...

Surely it's irrelevant which version of Acronis backup I'm using as a client if the issue is with the Linux program which loads from the boot drive

The flash drive just happens to have created with Media Builder in Acronis 2020
The boot error would still happen if I had ATI 2020 on the PC as a client

Vic, the core issue here is the incompatibility between the media created for the two different Acronis applications.  The ATI media is only intended for use with ATI, not with AB.
