Best Way to Install BU on new MoBo
I am moving from an Asus Rog Strix Z370-E to a Maximus XI Hero (WiFi) motherboard. Obviously there are different drivers, bios and chipset issues. I have an existing NVME boot drive I want to use and will install it on the new MoBo. What is the best way to backup and restore the Drive? Universal Restore? or a straight TI 2020 Restore. Either way, which drivers should I keep to add. I would think I should update the bios on the Maximus using Flashback, so that will already be done. Other than that I would put the Chipset driver, video driver, Audio, LAN, Bluetooth and Sata driver on a USB stick to use to update the drivers as soon as I get the replaced MoBo started up.
A slightly different way would be to simply install Win 10 from a USB stick, get the basics running and then update all the drivers on the fresh install and then do a complete restore from a 2020 disk and partition backup. That way all the drivers would be already updated.
Any advice would be appreciated.

IanL-S wrote:If you are using Windows 10 you may have a licence problem as the licence is associate with the particular MoBo; if you are lucky you may be able to activate on the new MoBo, or you may be able to persuade you to use it on the new MoBo.
Moving licenses is always a bit of a hassle when switching MoBos. Moving the Windows license is actually fairly straightforward, and is pretty well documented on the web. You have set up your computer to use a Microsoft account (rather than a local account) before and after the upgrade, but youj can do that just for the upgrade and go back to a local account after the license is activated for the new MoBo. (Things are a bit more complicated if the computer was originally licensed for Win 7 or Win 8.)
Inactivate your ATI license on the old PC and reactivate it after the the upgrade. That should work. (It worked for me.) Take similar action for all other licensed products, but be aware that some don't allow moving licenses.

Thank You both. I will just move the boot drive and and keep my fingers crossed. This PC had had some MoBo problems so at the end of this move it will have gone from Rog STRIX Z370-E to Maximus XI Hero Z390 to Rog STRIX Z370-E and this will be back to the Maximus. Had a couple of RMAs in there is the reason. So I am pretty familiar with dealing with the Microsoft Store. And last time she did set it up in my Account at MSFT so hopefully that will be a non issue.
