Cannot select Files And Folders to backup in True Image 2020
I am trying to set up a "Files and Folders" backup.
Under the Backup Source, I click on the "Files and Folders" button.
One of the locations that shows up as a possible source is "This PC".
When I click on the "+" sign in front of "This PC" nothing happens. I should be seeing a list of the Partitions and Drives of my PC.
When I click on the "+" in front of other potential sources, I get to see all the folders in those sources.
Any ideas on what is going wrong?
Mike

Hi Patrick:
After many reboots, I got the "This PC" list to open when I clicked on the + sign in front of it.
I then selected the various files and folders that I wanted to back up.
I then clicked on the OK button and a little spinning circle appeared that has be churning away for over 18 hours.
So, I think something has hung. (BTW, I tested this twice and got the forever running spinning circle both times.
My disks are not encrypted.
And I have set up three separate Partition backups that configured without problem and run without issues.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Regards, Mike

I hope someone more knowledgeable than I chimes in soon.
I was going to suggest that you might have a hardware problem with the drive but the fact that your partition backups work pretty much refutes that.
Is there anything in the ATI logs that might give a clue? Since Files and Folders backups still produce .tib files, the Ti_demon log might have meaningful diagnostic information. If you don't already have the log viewer, you can download it by going to the "MVP User Tools and Tutorials" web page linked from the right-hand pane in the forum's page.
You might also look in the Windows even log to see if Windows is reporting an error.

I have created quite a few files and folders backup task recently and have not had the problems being encountered here. As Patrick suggest I would check out the log files, and post the information here. The logfile viewer can be accessed via the MVP User Tools and Tutorials link on the right hand side of this page.

Mike,
Let's see if we can find out what may be running when you get the spinning circle.
Right click on the taskbar and open Task Manager. Click on the CPU column to sort by CPU time to see if something is running a lot. Also sort other columns to see if something is sucking up memory, doing a lot of disk or network activity, etc.
Not saying it will tell us much but at least something to look at to see what may be going on.
