Backup on mapped drive: The system cannot find the path specified

Thread needs solution

BackupRecovery build 12705 does not allow mapped drive on Server in the same domain. We have to map the drive because the physical drive changes every 3 months. We get this error code:

Fehlercode: 7

Has somebody a solution / proposal for me? Joseph

Can you check if UNC naming works at the moment?

UNC is working fine. I have this problem only on Windows 2008 R2 64. The before / after commands are not executed, the job fails in the first 3 seconds. The same Job on Windows 7 WS works fine.
Josef

I got the same error, the share is okey with UNC and letter mapped. Files can be created and read, so it definitly some bug with acronis.

I got the latest version available from Acronis 10.0.12705

Mapped drives seems not to be supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 Bit for creating Images.
I switched to UNC and instead of having 3 Job I created 12 (Harddisk changes after 3 months). Spent more the 1 day trying!

Thanx Josef!

I got it running now. This problem occurred for me on W2K3R2 SP2.

Hi all!

Thank you for your comments and for finding time to share your concerns with us.

I just wanted to confirm Josef information: mapped drives aren't recommended as a taget location for the backup: when you map a drive, it becomes mapped only under your Windows account. The Acronis product runs its tasks using the system account and so it is sometimes impossible to locate your mapped drive (especially when you are logged off).

Please find more details in this KB article.

Please use UNC path instead (it should look like \\[ip-address]\[folder_name]

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.

Thank you.
