Acronis 2020 cannot find last backups
Hi,
I have had to update from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and having just re-installed Acronis 2020 and run it for the first time, I find that it is unable to access the original backups (made on Windows 7). All the actual backups are safely stored on external HDDs.
Presumably the files used to find the backups were deleted by Windows 10 during its installation.
Is there a work-around to fix this problem? Or have I lost all my backups?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Mark

Hi again, Steve,
I am trying to restore a backup to a different location - from one external drive to another. But Acronis won't allow this.
The backup is my original Win 7 C:\ drive that I made before upgrading to Win 10 and I want to be able to access the files on it.
Every time I try this, nothing is written to the (empty) recipient drive.
Any suggestions?

Mark, taking a step backwards here:
How are your two drives connected to your computer?
Did your original Win 7 C: drive use the same partition scheme as your current Win 10 system being used for the recovery? Are both using UEFI or both Legacy boot schemes?
What files are you wanting to access here, and why do you need to actually restore the Win 7 backup to access them?
Have you tried just double-clicking on the Win 7 backup image file in Explorer to access the files you want, then use normal Copy & Paste controls to grab any you want to bring back?

Steve,
Windows 10 is on my C: drive. My Acronis backup drives are external HDDs
Yes, both Win drives use the same partition scheme.
When Win 10 installed itself, it (naturally) deleted a lot of files on my C: drive, so I wanted to be able to access these.
I have eventually managed to restore my Win 7 drive to one of my external drives, which it renamed to C: Windows 7-64 Bit (M:). It looks as if all the original Win 7 folders & files are on it. The whole Restore process took over 6 hours, which is why I at first assumed it wasn't working.
I had no idea that I could double-click on the Win 7 backup image file in Explorer to access the files I wanted! How simple! I just tried it. I haven't seen this explained in Acronis - or have I just not looked hard enough?
Thanks for your help, Steve.
