Resolution to Slow Backup With New .tibx format?

Thread needs solution

This issue was first posted about in September 2019. The forum won't let me link to the original post...search for the following to find it.

ati-2020-backupdauer-tibx-ohne-validierung-backuptime-tibx-without-validate

Ekaterina posted that it was being looked at in October 2019. None of the updates released so far have dealt with this.

I have seen many post since September 2019 from users complaining about slow backups. Each time moderators have responded in a way that makes it seem like they are unaware of the issue. Recently one of the moderators posted we should be patient because of the COVID-19 situation. I would accept this if the issue hadn't been posted about months before COVID-19 was even a thing.

I am using TI on a subscription basis. Because this issue has not been resolved, almost six months after 2020 was released I rolled back to TI 2019. I recently reinstalled 2020 to see if anything has changed with respect to this issue. It has not. Is there a way to switch from a subscription license to a perpetual license? I see no reason to wait for updates to 2020 that may never come to provide the functionality and performance I already had with the 2019 version.

We all share your frustration. Unfortunately, there are many perceived shortcomings with the new *.tibx architecture, as indicated to the many post to the Acronis True Image Wishlist.

Not sure why you were unable to add a post to the existing thread or why this post ended up in the "Off topic" forum. Some of your comments suggest you are confused between the role of the moderator (Ekaterina) and the role of the volunteer MVPs. Unfortunately we MVPs have no insight into the priorities given to particular issues or when they will be addressed. My own speculation is that we are unlikely to see a further update to ATI 2020 (unless some fatal difficulty arises due to a Windows update or a serious security vulnerability is discovered), as I would anticipated that most effort is being concentrated on the development of the first beta release for ATI 2021 which is likely to be some time in June with release version likely in late August (if the schedule in prior years is any guide).

Hello Dar Wunder,

the product team is investigating the way of  implementing a quick validation of the last backup only, which should improve the times for the overall backup creation process. However, this change is likely to be implemented in the next product version.
