Can't get ATI2018 to restore an image created on another PC to an external drive destination
I used Acronis True Image Home 2010 for years until EFI/GPT forced me to upgrade. Over the years all I have used Acronis only to make images of my system partitions (which are separate from my data partitions on all my PCs; I have other means to back up my data) and to restore these images when needed. An HDD failure just occurred on a PC, and I want to restore its most recent system partition image to a new HDD.
In the past, with ATIH 2010, this process was easy and reliable. I choose recover 'My Disks,' select the .tib image file, choose where this image should be written (to the new system partition I have created separately on the new HDD), and done. I click Proceed, wait for it to finish, put the new HDD in the PC, and it works. I have done this many times with ATIH 2010.
I am now trying to do this process with ATI 2018, and I am flummoxed. In the first place, it seems I have to go to the Backup tab for a restore operation. The User Guide says "select the backup which contains the partitions you want to recover, then open the Recovery tab..." Since this particular image was made on a different PC, there is no listed backup that contains the partition I want. I tried making a new backup and pointing it to the right image file, but that didn't work either.
Is there a way to do what I want with ATI 2018?

P.S. I found an older PC here that still had ATIH 2010 installed. I used it to accomplish the task, following the steps I outline in the 2nd paragraph above. The new HDD booted, and I'm back in business. Thank goodness I still had ATIH 2010 available.

Thanks very much Ian for getting me past that initial hurdle. I find the Acronis UI of recent years to be non-standard and confusing, so I had more to figure out. I did, and I wrote down the steps so I don't have to start over again if some time passes before I need to do this kind of Recover operation. I'm posting the steps here on the off chance that it may help someone else.
Instructions to restore a system image on a plugged-in external drive to the system partition of another plugged-in external drive:
- Connect both external drives (the one containing the image backup and the one to which the image backup is to be restored) to the PC running ATI 2018.
- Add the backup task to ATI 2018 by clicking on the "V" to the right of "+ Add backup" in the UI.
- Click on the "Add existing backup" that appears, and navigate to and select the desired system image. Click "Add."
- Click the "Recovery" button at the top right of the UI.
- Click the "Recover disks" button at the bottom of the UI. Click the "Partitions" button near the center top of the UI.
- Check the box for the desired partition in the backup.
- The "Recover to" part of the UI appears. Select the desired destination partition in the dropdown list. (Be careful -- the list shows all partitions on all connected drives!)
- Choose desired options in "Recovery options" at the bottom of the UI.
- Click "Recover Now."

Glad that you got it sorted - it is NOT obvious.
