Can't uninstall to reinstall ATI 2011?

Thread needs solution

After Acronis True Image 2011 started to backup extremely slowly I decided to uninstall and then reinstall it.

1) I ran the uninstaller for ATI2011 and then restarted my PC.
2) Upon trying to install it again I get a screen that has 3 options "Modify", "Repair" and "Remove".
3) I then ran the Clean up Tool (http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871) to do a thorough clean up and then restarted it.
4) Again upon trying to install it again I get a screen that has 3 options "Modify", "Repair" and "Remove".
5) If I choose "remove" it then runs for a while and then "Could not open key:" message appears (see attached image).

I noticed that the registry key it's looking for has a root of "UNKNOWN"????

Any ideas how I can get this fixed? At this point I can't use True Image, remove it or install it.

If you have a backup of 2011, your can use it to restore back to that date.
Or, if you have a backup of 2010 or prior version, you can restore to that date.
or, if 2011 was your first install of TI and you have no backup, see if your have a registry checkpoint prior to your first 2011 install and restore the checkpoint.

If I do that I'll return to the mafunctioning slow version of the app.

After restarting again and running the install again I get the log:

Hello Dean and Colin!

Thank you for your comments. Colin, thank you for your help.

Dean, thank you for the log provided. I've found the cause:

Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.
{04A3A6B0-8E19-49BB-82FF-65C5A55F917D}

It detected the registry key, and failed to proceed with the installation. In order to solve the issue, please do the following:

  1. Go to Start -> Run -> regedit
  2. Press Ctrl+F and enter the following code:
    0B6A3A40
    and press enter
  3. Delete the registry key it will find: that's the one that prevents the product from getting installed
  4. Re-try the installation

Should the problem remain, please gather MSI log, Windows System Information and send this information to us.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
