Disk Image of Mirrored Disk

Thread needs solution

So here is the question I need create an image of a set of mirrored disks. Its a science instrument and what I can do is limited. I can break the mirror and image.

I need to image and be able to restore to a single disk if needed.

Is this possible ......

Thank you

Marcus, welcome to the Acronis User Forums.

I have used ATI to backup various sorts of RAID partitions and have never had a problem. In doing so I have created a backup either of one partition or all partitions on the RAID array from within Windows. If you create the backup from the recovery media, the recovery media needs to have the necessary drivers for the RAID (the Linux recovery media does not contain those drivers due to licencing restrictions). The Win PE and Win RE recovery media should both include the necessary drivers; to be absolutely sure that the necessary drivers are installed, I suggest using the MVP Tool - CUSTOM ATI WINPE BUILDER. This media should automatically install the Intel IRST drivers - they are used if the RAID array is using an on-board Intel solution. If it is a non-intel solution, to be absolutely certain that it will work properly you will need to manually insert the drivers (this process is discussed in the thread I indicated).

You should test the recovery media to make sure that you can backup/restore the mirror.

There are no gotcha to doing this - you can restore to a single disk rather than mirror RAID. The reason for this is that the disk signatures on the disks indicating they are part of an array are not apparently included in the backup. I am sure Mustang will correct me if I am wrong on this.
