Acronis Starting Upon Re-Boot

Thread needs solution

Every few days when I re-boot my Windows 10 Pro desktop (version 2004), it boots into my USB external drive where I store my Acronis back-ups.

It periodically opens a DOS window saying:

X:\windows\system\system32>wpeinit

X:\windows\system32>"X;\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\trueimage_starter.exe"

X;\windows\system32>

It also opens an Acronis menu.

I'd like to keep my external drive connected for the scheduled backups to occur. I find I need to disconnect this external drive before my computer will boot into Windows 10 when this happens.

Suggestions? I am new to Acronis and am still learning. Thanks

Dale, welcome to these public User Forums.

This boot issue is caused by the BIOS settings on your computer which is finding your external Survival Kit drive ahead of your normal Windows boot device.  You would need to look at the BIOS boot priority settings and ensure that your internal OS drive / disk is the first priority boot device.

The BIOS settings are unique to each make of computer / BIOS provider so not possible to give you more specific instructions.

Thanks! The issue is resolved. I did not realize that my external drive would only be displayed in the BIOS boot order priority list when it was connected and turned off. Again thanks!
