WARNING - OCZ Vertex sudden failures

Thread needs solution

Hi all, keep your backups updated.

I have a quite large set of computers that I could potentially access and my family do not ask my for help on christmas eve only.

I am seeing a high failure rate of OCZ Vertex 3 and 4. 2 drives in different computers fails from one day to the other.

As we have completely different usecases, whilst both are Win 10 2004 OS drives, and computers I suspect these products have reached their EOL. I might want exclude a firmware issue as all of them were updated and there are still some out in the field working. Yet not all of them bought on the same date. So perhaps a firmware bug like we saw it with enterprise SSDs from HP and other failing after a certain time.

That is interesting/concerning, Karl. I just checked my listing of drives, and the last OCZ drive to fail was back in 2013; had not had any since.

I have never used any OCZ Vertex drives and not come across them in any systems I have dealt with.  I tend to stick to Seagate, WD & Samsung drives in the main.

Vertex 3 and 4 had issues and OCZ in general had issues. Now they are under Toshiba. Sandisk is to Western Digital.

I prefer Samsung and had not one failure of a Samsung SSD yet.
