Has the drive letter for your external drive changed at all?

Have you tried reselecting the backup destination for your backup task?

What version of ATI are you using?  This forum is for ATI 2020 but your signature says 2013?

I had the same problem, and the only fix I could find was put the USB drive into the same USB port it was in when it was set up to backup initially.

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2020-forum/last-2-attempts-do-back-have-failed-error

is my tale of woe. Might be worth reading and seeing you have any differences. A lot of things were tried, and only putting the drive back on the port fixed it.

I suspect somewhere that USB port number is saved, either in Windows or ATI2020, never figured it out?

There should be no issue with changing USB ports or even changing drive letters for a backup drive provided that the drive partition GUID does not change, as this is what ATI uses to track the correct drive associated with a backup task.

If the drive partition GUID has not changed, then if the drive is not being recognised, this would suggest an issue with either the internal Acronis database that tracks where files are stored for tasks, or else the underlying script .tib.tis file that also stores volume labels for the task and drive.

Steve, I'm working fine now. Just have to keep the drive where it was.

You could be correct with an internal data for the drive (probably by letter, never tried changing the letter). Even creating a new backup task wouldn't work.

It works now so I can live with this.
