ATI gets "stuck" so no other task can run

Thread needs solution

Once a task was "stick" in the limbo state of never having completed every time I started the ATU UI, I simply right clicked it such that ATI displayed the "Stop" option. I'd click that; ATI would ask me if I really wanted to stop the task; I'd click "Yes"; but then ATI just loops for what seemed forever; eventually I'd kill the ATI UI program with the Task Manager (this is all under Windows 10). Sometimes I've seen 50% CPU usage; other times I see 0% CPU.

I finally did the schedmgr.exe thing and "task zap". This cleared the situation, but then of course I had to set up a new schedule for all my tasks. The first backup I tried to manually start, again hangs up forever with "Calculating time remaining". Eventually, I attempted to use the "Stop" option on that manually started task, but then it once again displayed a greyed out screen with a spinner saying "Processing".......which never ends. I hesitate to use schedmgr.exe again since I don't want to re-configure all the tasks again.

ATI has been working fine for months and months until about July 13th when all this started happening. I can't think of any changes I made except for Win10 forced updates. Now I can do no backups. BTW, this is all with local mobo connected hardrives (not cloud backups).

Sandy, please try doing a repair install as per KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings

I agree that that is the first thing to try. Tried to replay last night (Melbourne Australia time + 10) but I could not save a post. ... However, it was it appears due to webmaster fixing the Forum navigation issue, for which I am most greatful.

Thank you both for your interest. Let's ignore this post of mine from yesterday.

I have narrowed the problems down a bit, and I think it will make more sense if I do new, more detailed posts on each problem separately rather than the rather poorly framed query I made above. I isolated the 2 backup tasks giving me trouble, and by disabling them, my other backup tasks now run. It was that fact that *no* tasks would run that concerned me when I initially posted the "stuck" situation above.

P.S. I have not yet done a full repair install as Steve suggested above. I don't want to lose all my task schedule or parameters again like I did a couple of days ago when I did the "task zap" operation as the repair install recommends.

Doing a repair installation will not result in the loss of tasks schedules or parameters. I have done this many times and never happened, and no reports on the Forum of it happening to my knowledge.

IanL-S,

Well, I can assure you that if you do a "task zap" using schedmgr.exe as was advised in another thread, you will have to reconfigure your backup tasks. Also the KB article referenced above (https://kb.acronis.com/content/60915) gives several methods of repairing your Acronis system; some of those methods, do require re-configuration.

Sandy, the only reconfiguration that should be needed after using 'task zap' from the schedmgr.exe tool, is to re-set the schedule for the tasks.  All other settings remain unchanged.

....the only reconfiguration that should be needed after using 'task zap' from the schedmgr.exe tool, is to re-set the schedule for the tasks.

Steve, yep, that's exactly what I had to do after running 'task zap'.....reset all my backup task schedules.

P.S. Note that the post above that I was commenting on said: "will not result in the loss of tasks schedules".....but I did lose my task schedules just as you say here.

I was merely referring to to reinstallation not the task zap.

Note my post on 7/24 @ 19:07 stated:

".........I did a couple of days ago when I did the "task zap" operation as the repair install recommends."

after I had been referred to KB 60915 as part of a request that I "please try doing a repair install"; KB 60915 does include as one of its options running "task zap".
