Has TI2021 resolevd the problems in TI2020 (volsnap error, unknown error on backup, etc.)?

Thread needs solution

In TI2020, the volsnap error, unknown error ware found, and finally I could not use TI2020, and so I still use TI2019.

For Acronis engineers, please explain the status of TI2021 stability and quality, previous problem solvings.

Kazuhiro, I have never seen the errors mentioned so cannot tell you if they are fixed in the new ATI 2021 release build (30290).  You may need to take a 30-day trial of 2021 to test this for yourself where you would be able to open a support case direct with Acronis during that period if you do see the same issue with volsnap.

The volsnap error has been fixed for Windows 7 media. It hasn't been fixed for early Windows 10 media.

EDIT:

Kazuhiro,

Sorry, I didn't see you previous post about the volsnap error. I don't know if it has been fixed. I was referring to a different volsnap error that stops WinPE media from booting.

Kazuhiro,

Volsnap.sys is a Windows component.  In Windows 10 this component now reports logged errors that occur.  Using Windows Event Viewer you have relatively good chance of discovering what these errors are and possibly a method to resolve the issue.

Errors logged by volsnap are related to the VSS service of Windows and as such Shadow Copy errors may be in play in your issue.

I am providing a link to an MSSupport page that discusses the volsnap reporting and lists the Event IDs you are likely to find.  On this page under More Information you will see a link titled Event IDs.  Clicking the link will expand it and show various events that are logged by volsnap.  Comparing these with what you may find in Event Viewer is a good place to start in fixing your issue.

I confirmed that volsnap error does not come out during backup by TI2021 (maybe fixed).

But other error "Backup failed by "Unknown error" in TI2020 ver21400" still occurs during TI2021 backup (1 times per more than 10 times).

So I still use TI2019 , and this does not cause any error!

Kazuhiro, if you have time for investigation, I'd recommend opening a support ticket - the error message is too generic, I cannot confirm that the RnD are aware of your particular issue.

I upgraded to 2021 and today got the dreaded Volsnap missing error. I had this a couple of years ago and after carefully editing the registry as per instructions here managed to render my PC unable to boot. At least Acronis proved up to the job by running a full restore.

After the warning the software paused and retried automatically when it ran perfectly. Very mysterious and a bit worrying.
