Unable to Clone with True Image 2021

Thread solved

I've used True Image for years mainly for Cloning as a backup and had no problems until now. I just upgraded to 2021 and tried my first Cloning of C drive (partitions C & D) on the SSD, to a SATA drive (2 partitions E & F)

I always do it manually and As Is and have done for years. This time everything seemed to go as normal, locking the C & D and then asking to reboot. It then sat there 'Preparing' for at least half an hour with no activity. Tried again - same result

Tried with the Windows PE Disk I created from 2021 - rebooted etc. and was finally told, the C & D couldn't be locked and to try a Linux Disk. I then tried with the Linux Disk from 2020 and it again it sat there, but this time with the message in the Linux screen that a reboot was necessary while clearing the target Disk 2, but of course nothing else happened

What am I missing or doing wrong? Has something dramatic changed in 2021 version?

Roger, some of the issues with locking disks for ATI operations such as cloning have been caused by Windows Fast Start being involved, i.e. the PC was not fully shutdown when the operation was attempted, but was in a hybrid sleep (aka hibernation) state because of Fast Start.

I very rarely use cloning myself as I prefer the safer method of using Backup & Recovery where I can keep the source drive disconnected and safe from user errors etc.

Cloning will attempt to make the target drive bootable for the location where it is installed which can be an issue if the drive is not going to be the main boot drive.

Thanks Steve, but I'm back to ATI 2020 now which has worked brilliantly for me now. I just tried the same Cloning process as before and it completed perfectly

I don't know what's gone wrong with 2021, but it seems to have strayed very far from the solid Backup, Restore and Data / Disk safety that it was. A real pity, but I've got the last 'good' version at least

I'll watch what happens here anyway and thanks for your help
