Can Mac True Image restore files from a NAS that were created by Windows True Image?

Thread needs solution

I've been running True Image 2018 on a Windows PC and a MacBook Pro (Catalina 10.15), storing incremental backups to a NAS. The PC recently died, and I want to restore backups that were created by the Windows True Image.

However, when (on my Mac) I go to Recovery > Recover Files from Existing Backup... and point it to the backups on the NAS, True Image just hangs. Every time. (All drop-down menu items are grayed out, and all buttons on the UI are unresponsive.)

I was thinking about upgrading to True Image 2021 (partly in the hopes that it'll solve this immediate problem), but if there's some fundamental problem with recovering Windows-created backups from a Mac, I probably won't.

Many thanks!

Steve

Stephen, I do not have a MAC so I cannot help. May I suggest you try posting on the Acronis True Image for Mac Forum. Things may be better with ATI 2021. You could try a trial version of ATI 2021 for MAC or even outlay about US$30 for upgrade to ATI 2020. Alternatively, you could install windows on you MAC using bootcamp or one of the other methods - but you would need to buy a windows licence which may be a problem.

You could try copying the backup file to a USB drive, and then attempt to open the backup from the USB drive, the copy the needed files.

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for the note! And yes, I meant to post my query to the Mac forum. (Oops!) I just did (here), and will see if I get an answer.

Your trial version suggestion is a good one; I might give it a try. I also have an ancient Windows laptop that I can install ATI 2018 on to see if it works. (I have a three-machine perpetual license, so I'm good there.)

Yes, it very easy to get confused about which Forum you are on. I hope you find a solution. Thanks for a link to the Topic on the MAC forum.
