Upgrading Acronis Backup 11.7 to 12.5

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade my current Acronis Backup 11.7 to 12.5. As this is my first time doing, I have a few questions that I would like to seek for advise.

1) How do I upgrade 11.7 to 12.5 for Agent. I've a few servers running on RedHat. Can I just run the 12.5 installer on top of the current 11.7? Do I need to uninstall the 11.7 after upgrading to 12.5? After upgrading to 12.5 will 11.7 still run on the background?

2) For windows and RedHat server, After upgrading from 11.7 to 12.5 my understanding is that my 11.7 backup plan will be ported over to 12.5. I would like to perform encryption on my backup plan. Can I use the existing backup plan from 11.7 and encrypt it? Or do I have to recreate the backup plan on 12.5 then I can perform encryption?

Thank you for reading.

Hello Jason,

thank you for your posting!

1) Please refer to https://kb.acronis.com/content/57721 The upgrade procedure depends on the license\deployment type, but most likely you'll need to run a clean installation.

2) Encryption can be applied to a new (never run) backup plan only, it's not possible to encrypt the existing archives. If you want to encrypt your backups, a new archive should be created.
