File system support other than FAT/NTFS?

Thread needs solution

In looking at the pricing structures and features, it seems that the only Backup and Recovery products that support file systems other than just FAT and NTFS are Advanced Server, which costs over 12 times as much as Advanced Workstation.

Yet True Image Home supports Linux file systems, and costs over 24 times *less* than Advanced Server.

What should Backup & Recovery customers purchase if they simply want Advanced Workstation but with the True Image Home file system support, or want to back up Linux workstations?

I'm very confused!

To clarify what I am looking at:

Advanced Workstation: http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/advanced-workstation/#supported-…

Advanced Server: http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/advanced-server/#supported-file-…

Based on the above links, it appears to me that Advanced Workstation only supports FAT16/32 and NTFS, while Advanced Server supports a lot more.

However, in looking at the manuals for both Workstation and Advanced Workstation:

http://www.acronis.com/download/docs/abr10aw/userguide
http://www.acronis.com/download/docs/abr10w/userguide

They seem to indicate that they support the same file systems that Advanced Server does.

So which is it? Is the first web page link I posted incorrect? Or are the manuals incorrect?

Workstation supports these filesystems too. ( the first link is incorrect, the second - about the server - is correct). Note that you can't place backup to these linux file systems out of the box if they are not mounted in windows (unless run from bootable media)

OK, thanks, that really confused me. As you can tell I have not purchased or tried the product yet. :)

Hello all,

Thank you for your posts and your assistance is appreciated dev-anon.

OmniBus, let me provide you with additional assistance just in case.

You can always download a trial version either for Acronis True Image 2011 Home or Acronis Backup and Recovery 10. The home version is fully functional for 30 days and ABR10 for 15. We offer technical support for the duration of the trial period.

Just in case, the Ext4 file system is currently supported by two Acronis programs, Acronis True Image 2011 Home and ABR 10 build 12457 and higher.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

It is my understanding that True Image Home only makes incremental backups using the "fast" method, which I have had some problems with in the past. So I always avoid it.
