Tossing in the towel

Thread needs solution

I have been a long time ATI user, but ATI2021 will end that.  I tried a test restore in a standalone mode.  The media boots the computer and brings up the interface.  You then select what you want to do (in this case restore) and go thru a few screens until you get to the end and it shows you the summary of actions it will take.  When you click "Proceed" to start the restore, it does not proceed and does nothing.  The mouse cursor still moves but nothing happens.ATI2021 has no standalone restore capability, at least for me.  I am going back to ATI2017 where I have successfully done standalone restores a few times before with no issues.  I bought ATI2021 on Oct 29 2020 and have requested a full refund.  Acronis used to be number 1 but I am guessing they changed ownership and quality left with the previous owners.  ATI2021 was released way before it was ready.

Craig, welcome to these public User Forums.

As you have requested a full refund of ATI 2021 and intend going back to ATI 2017, then my comments my be redundant at this point.

I have done various restores / recoveries using the ATI 2021 rescue media over the time that I have been using this version, starting from the initial beta testing phase.

When doing a disk & partitions restore, then the initial phase after clicking on proceed can take a little while before it shows any sign of progress, which can suggest that nothing is actually happening when it is doing preparation tasks. I would prefer if there was a more visible indication of activity at this point as it can be disconcerting for users if they think the operation has either stopped or hung etc!!

I do agree that ATI 2021 was released too soon and before it was fit for mainstream use!  This surprised all of the beta testers when Acronis announced the end of the beta and release of the public version, especially as we were all expecting there to be a further beta build version to fix a list of issues we had identified!

I can only wish you well with continuing with ATI 2017, there should be no reason why this won't continue to serve your needs at least until Microsoft decide to change the playing pitch with Windows 10...!

@Steve So this is the cause of all the strange things going on after upgrading to 2021? Do they have an ETA for final release?

Thanks

Acronis are said to be working on further fixes to issues reported with ATI 2021 and the Protection features that were brought in with it, but there is no published information on when any further new builds will be released for this activity.
