Cannot change cleanup rules , really???

Thread needs solution

I have a backup set that contains 2TB of data. By default I never changed the cleanup rules as I was thinking that I would tweak it as I go.

Now I am not able to change this settings, Acronis is not saving it. I was then told by an agent that once the first backup is started, this settings cannot be changed...!! What? So just because I want to add more versions, I would need to re upload everything ?

To add to the confusion, I can change it on my OSX backup, but not under windows. Why would it be a limitation for Windows but not OSX?

Hugh, as far as I am aware it is possible to change automatic cleanup rules for all non-cloud backup tasks in ATI 2021 and earlier versions.  Cloud backup tasks use different rules in the Advanced Options page to manage the number of versions and retension period.

What exactly are you doing here?  Screen shots of the steps are always worth lots of words!

Hey

Inam trying to changr thr cleanuo rules of a cloud archive. Under OSX, it is working. But under windows, you cannot edit this after a single backup. So I dont see it as a server limitation as I always been able to change it on the fly under OSX. It’s a terrible limitation. I mean, it should at least tell you very clearly that this option won’t be editable in the future. Now, I am stuck with 2TB od data that has the default 20 versions/6 months. If I run this twice a day, it gives me 10 days!

here is a video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i4p3mhudhbmzscw/Acronis%20True%20Image%202021…

Hugo, thanks for the video.  I have just tested this on 2 of my own cloud backups, one a disk backup, the other a files backup, and for both I was able to go into the Advanced > Acronis cloud cleanup options, change the number of versions and retension period, save the changes, then check that the changes were kept before changing them back to the original values I was using.  This worked fine for both tasks.

All my cloud backups use password encryption so had to be 'unlocked' before any changes could be made and the PC was connected online throughout plus signed in to my Acronis Account for ATI 2021.

If you still see an issue here, then I would testing by creating a new cloud task for something small, i.e. a folder with just a few files.  Run the backup with the default cleanup settings, then go back into the settings and change them to different values to see if the values are retained or lost?

Thanks for the reply

Just to make sure, I had to change backup set and come back to see the issue happening.

Are you making something different than what I do in my video??

yes i tried it with a new backsup set. No problem editing it at thr beginning, but once a backup is done, its too late

thanks again

Hugo, I was modifying the settings for two of my own cloud backup tasks that have been running daily for months with ATI 2021 and using the same steps as you.

The next step is to confirm what build version of ATI 2021 you are using here?  This is shown on the Account page in the GUI and should be #32010 which is the latest build.

If you have the latest build, then the next suggestion would be to try doing a Repair Install of ATI 2021 to see if that will resolve this issue?  See KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - for details.
