Besides the hype, should I upgrade from ATI 2018 to ATI2021?

Thread needs solution

I've used ATI2018 to run four backup jobs.. three backup from my Synology NAS to PC and one from my PC to the NAS. Incremental jobs... so noting really fancy.

Besides being the new version, looking for honest feedback as to any other features that might make me want to upgrade to ATI2021?

Thanks

At this time I cannot with all honesty recommend that you upgrade from your working ATI 2018 to the latest ATI 2021 version.

Acronis have decided that rather than focussing on being a Backup & Recovery application, that they want to now be in the Cyber Protection business and now impose this on their users with ATI 2021 with many more new services & processes that run continually regardless of the new Protection being turned off or not!

If ATI 2018 is working for you, then stay with it.

I am in full agreement with what Steve says.

Ian

I'm still running ATI 2018 on my wife's PC and ATI 2019 on mine. I only run ATI 2021 on test machines.

So I'm agreeing with Steve and Ian. Sounds like you have no reason to upgrade, which in itself is a reason not to.

Which is the latest version of ATI that does not have the Cybercrapware bundled? I just went through a very painful month of stress testing, troubleshooting, and countless windows reinstalling because my PC would just freeze or crash randomly, only to discover ATI didn't play nice with Bitdefender. And I am not going to remove Bitdefender.

I just want to backup my system to an HDD and to the cloud, that's all I ask. Considering ATI is probably the best and friendliest backup solution for Windows, so to me, it's shocking that this company decided to mess it up :(

Hello Victor,

we're sorry to hear of your negative experience with the new version of Acronis True Image! If possible, would you mind sending us Acronis system report from your PC via the Feedback option, so that we can check what lead to conflicts with the Bitdefender.
Please note that Acronis True Image Standard (perpetual license) and Acronis True Image Essential subscription (without Cloud) do not have the Antimalware functionality.

Ekaterina, I appreciate your involvement, but after 1 month of troubleshooting every PC component and installing Windows over 10 times, do you think I would be crazy enough to reinstall Acronis True Image? Until a clean version of ATI that only has backup and nothing more comes out, I am not touching this piece of software with a very long stick.

So no, I don't have a system report and will not be producing one in the near feature :)

Also, I purchased ATI Premium because of its 1TB included Cloud storage. I do not need the Standard or Essential version, I need the one that can backup my files to the Cloud. Is it so hard to offer only backup to cloud service without antimalware? Nobody needs it, nobody is asking for it. Everyone already has virus and malware protection, we don't need Acronis to force-feed us yet another protection feature.

Thanks!

Steve, Ian, and Bruno,

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the confirmation of what I suspected and why I asked the question. As was mentioned, it is sad that they are trying to fork down the CyberSecurity path when focusing on the development of a solid Backup & Recovery service is super important.

Again, I appreciate your insights.

Hello All,

This Cyber Protection stuff has to have some "Underlying Reasoning" ?

Makes no sense to deviate so much from their "Core" business.

Something else is going on here.

Where is this software produced ?

Steve F.

ATI2021 is utter rubbish for god's sake don't download it. Worse than that Acronis support with issues is even worse. I have regretted downloading the new version it is truly awful and breaks in new a creative ways with every release.

Craig

I agree with every negative statement in this thread!

I was running 2018 and it did fine. I just forked over the money for three computers and installed 2021. Terrible. First of all it barely runs just setting up a backup. Click an option get an hourglass and wait until it comes back - and does nothing.

They still haven't fixed the inability to change destination when a nas address changes. That's been going on since before 2015.

I'm going back to 2018 and will never pay another dime to Acronis unless they fix this piece of garbage.

Good Luck!
