The device is busy
I keep getting this message every time I try and create a bootable media disk.
The device is busy (0x40010)
Tag=0x8b7F8138EBD33EC1
I did do a search and It said to turn od the CD/RW burning device/ or let the Acronis close the Drive disc drawer. (didn't work)
Also I haven't a clue How I would turn of the burning device.
Can somebody walk me through it step by step. I am new to computers.
If I cant get a bootable disk I guess the software is no use to me....frustrated.
Regards
David

David,
If you need a CD, you can create the ISO file (or download it from your Acronis account) and burn that to a CD using an ISO capable burning program. Windows 7 supports burning ISO files.

Thanks mate
I will check out the data stick in the next day or two to make sure it worked. Thanks for the reply

Try creating a regular TI Rescue CD but leave the tray open and let the Rescue Builder program draw the draw in when needed.

Good morning GroverH
I did try that, but, the drawer would not close on its own. What I will try later is to copy the rescue information from the memory stick to a disk and see if that works. I guess if I boot up with the memory stick in it probably won't work.
.
Thanks

David,
Post #2 is a definite possibility. Use either one of the two possible iso files and burn the file as an image onto the CD. Also, creating the Acronis bootable flash drive is a definite possibility.
If your computer is a laptop, the program will not close the drawer.

Hi GroverH
I haven't a clue as to how to burn the file as an image onto a CD or create Acronis bootable flash drive (whatever that is) what I did was to drag the files from my memory stick onto my formated CD. They seemed to all be copied over when I checked it (looked at it in the E Drive.
Thanks mate

Hi,
Click on my signature index below and check out the two items listed under index item 2-G. Should you need, there is additional information in items 2-E, 2-F and 2-H.
Copying files from a memory stick to the CD will get the files onto the CD butr the CD will not be bootable.

MANY(!) problems with TI Home 2012
Has this 'device busy' EVER been fixed?
1. Before activation, I successfully created a Rescue DVD+RW, which
worked fine when I booted from it, tho I could not restore any files
that were successfully backed up to DVD+RWs eventually (see problem#4
below). After activation, I now get this 'device busy' msg w/that

Leaving the DVD tray open and getting the 'invalid media' pop-up
made no difference.
However, by merely using a CD-R, it created it fine and booted from
it fine and recoverd files NOT(!) from a DVD+RW (see problem#2 below).
Using an SD FAT card as bootable also worked fine. It seems it's now
rejecting/hanging due to the UDF structure where it worked before.
2. Although your manual says DVD+RW is supported, I find that hard to believe.
During this time, your product would "brain-freeze" whenever I
tried using DVD+RWs; that is, say, during a pop-up window saying 'browse',
'retry', or 'cancel' (when doing a backup to multiple DVD+RWs), the
'retry' button would turn blue but the pop-up window would NOT go
away! The entire product did this except 'validate archive' which
seemed to work normally (due to 'file corrupted' msg!). When it would
just sit there, I had to start ProcMon & NetMon just to see what was
happening; it would mostly be in a 'UDP Send' loop talking w/my
router every few seconds, or an 'ACCESS DENIED' / 'SUCCESS' for
'HKLM\Software\Acronis\File CDP Service' loop while the user screen
just said 'calculating...'; this went on until I was forced to 'End
Process' it.
With 28 threads, I can't see why it would just sit there w/no user msgs.

but ONLY if I did NOT(!) make the discs bootable! However, attempting
recovery of chosen files would also hang/fail. It also went into a
loop, constantly re-asking to mount Volume 1.
When I copied the DVD+RW .tibs to a 32G NTFS (not UDF; the DVD+RWs

could ONLY be formatted as UDF) USB, then the product worked normally
and FINALLY(!!!) recovered my chosen file.
3. It seems that a 'generate system report' hangs if no Internet is up.
4. The 'timeout' default of 30 seconds is COMPLETELY UN-USABLE when
creating a backup to multiple DVD+RWs. I had to set it to 1 hour.
Don't know if that affected problem#3 above.
5. When I did 'download&install' of an upgrade (since the product was
un-usable at that time), it seems that there is no option to tell it
where to install; from my box, I installed to my own DIR, but doing
this upgrade, it put it somewhere else (my DIR was now empty). Worse,
when trying to un-install it from the box, it failed, saying 'sub-key
not found' but didn't say what the key was! Tried repair installation,
modify, and install. Tried Windows Program Un-install, but it said it
found no objects to do the un-install. I THINK(!) I finally re-installed
it successfully from the box, but who knows!
6. Why are 'syncagentsrv.exe' and 'TrueImageMonitor.exe (ESPECIALLY)'
running when I did not activate/signon them? In my case, I only want
to create System Images on demand; I don't want any monitors deciding
what to back up.
In summary, your product seems to be working OK now, as long as I
do NOT use DVD+RWs. But, I wasted WEEKS(!) on your product. This was for
both Win6 and Win7; different hardware on each. The DVD+RWs obviously
were fine since I was able to recover files via the USB (I had done a
DOS copy of the .tibs). Needless to say, with all these problems, I
have ZERO confidence that I will be able to recover my system in the
event of a failure, especially since this 'device busy' issue has
apparently been around for quite a while.

I also have the same problem. When I try to create a backup image using a ATIH 2012 (build 6131) CD, it generates an error message below.
The device is busy (0X40010).

Go into Win 10 file explorer, right click DVD Drive, and chose "Erase this Disc" before you try to create a rescue media on a DVD.
