Something different in marketing pop-ups and other oddity

Thread needs solution

For the first time ever, I've been getting pop-ups for an Acronis holiday discount.

Both my machines with ATI 2021 were off. I turned one on to update when I saw the new version was released. As expected, I saw a message shortly after boot that there was an available update. After I ran the update, I started getting the advertisement pop-up. I normally run with the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini disabled. It seemed to take disabling that service again to stop the pop-ups.

On the second machine, after I booted I got the advertising pop-up before updating the program. And, I did not get an update message as I expected. But I did get the message after opening the ATI UI. After starting the update and before the download was complete I got a very large pop-up telling me that I had used up my license activations and did I want to buy more? I checked my account online to be sure and that was just not true. I dismissed that pop-up and the update proceeded to run and the program runs fine.

EDIT: I see in the ATI 2020 forum that this may be a new issue on the Acronis side.

Bruno, my experience is similar to yours. It is particularly annoying that you do not have the option of dismissing and not getting the message again.

I get stupid popups every windows boot that my Antivirus licence is expired.

Disable this shitt.. I want to have a backup software. For the AV I have something else.

If this wont be disabled, then this will be my last version of acronis trueimage.

Hi!
If you don't plan upgrading to one of the editions that include the Antimalware feature, you can turn the Antimalware protection off: go to Protection section and click Turn off protection, see https://kb.acronis.com/content/65499 for more details. The alert shouldn't appear after that.

I have the same issue.  I am constantly getting a "Holiday Discount: Up to 50% Off!" pop up.  There is no way to stop it.  I won't be renewing Acronis because of this.  I'll find another backup solution that doesn't act like adware\malware.
