Repeated restart requests after installation on Apple silicon Mac

Thread needs solution

Can’t use the latest version of ATI on a MacBook Air with Apple silicon. After initial installation of ATI there is a repeated request to restart the computer. Have followed KB 67475 but it doesn’t make any difference.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem.

Hello Everyone,

sorry to know that you've encountered this issue! Please refer to 67475: Acronis True Image 2021 (Mac): repeated restart request after installation for more details.

As statet before, this actually won’t work on apple silicon based mac‘s.

Hello everyone,

i got an update from the tech support:

Hello Sascha,

Thank you for your email. My name is Supreeth a Supervisor with Acronis Customer Central

This is an update regarding case XXXX where you had reported issues with macOS Big Sur M1 - ATI2021 keeps asking for restart

Upon your concern, we had reported the issue to the next level for further investigation, got an update that it is an known issue with the current version of Acronis True Image 2021 in Mac .

We also notified this to our Development team and they are working on a fix for the issue. Since we do not have a specific ETA about the release of a solution, I would suggest that we close this case for now.

However, please be assured that we would not consider the issue as ‘Resolved’.

The issue would be fixed in future builds of the product and hence I kindly request you to use the in-product notification option.

Please make sure “Automatically check for updates at startup” option is selected under settings tab which notifies you when a new build is released.

Thank you for your co-operation. We appreciate your patience.

Have same problem, Tech Support told me that ATI 2021 does not support ARM based processors, so Mac M1 not supported.  They did not know if support would be added in future release.

It would be reasonable to think that tech support would be better briefed on this issue so that the left hand actually knows what the right hand is doing. One would also like to think that on an installation attempt there would be some sort of check done to ensure hardware compatibility before proceeding.

The system requirements also don’t say a x86 Processor is required.

I would be glad about an official statement if there will be Apple Silicon support in near future.

Im Cloud user and am not able to backup my main computer since over a month. My subscription was renewed in November 2020 and I am still not able to use this software.

No announcements like „we at working on m1 support“, „we won’t support m1“ or „be informed that we actually won’t support m1“ are actually visible in an highlighted place.

in this thread we received an answer from a moderator which even didn’t read the thread.

im actually very disappointed and want to hear about about how to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Any updates on this issue or perhaps an ETA on a fix?  Still running with no backup on a Mac Mini M1.

Hello Everyone!

Acronis is working on implementing support for devices with Apple M1 chip. This is a complex project involving several RnD departments, and there is a top focus on delivering support for the new ARM64 architecture within the nearest Acronis True Image 2021 update. You can track the news on newly released updates at https://www.acronis.com/support/updates/ or also check our official KB article on this matter: https://kb.acronis.com/content/67868 - it will be updated once the M1 chip is fully supported.

I got news from the support - looks like the M1 is now supported.
