Acronis WD in Windows 10

Thread needs solution

Hallo,
I am new and come from The Netherlands,
I allways had Acronis WD in windows 7, but I cannot download and install that in Windows 10.
Where can I download the programm which is organised with Western Digital, in Windows 10?

An OEM version of the software is provided by the vendor, hardware vendor in this case, WD.

Yes its free. However if it is based on TI2014 then it may or may not work on Windows 10. The page lists 8 and 8.1 as the highest supported versions.

Hallo,
I have downloaded the programm and installed. The icon is on my desk, but when I click on the icon, nothing happens!!!
What is wrong?

The WD website states "ATIWD is based on the award winning Acronis True image Home 2013 backup, restore and disaster recovery program."

Version 2013 is not certified for use with Windows 10.

No. The freeware comes from the Disk Drive manufacturer. They distribute a free OEM version of True Image. Its possible the manufacturer will update to TI 2016 but who knows when that will happen.

On Windows 10, the program must be installed with Windows Explorer in Administrative Privileges mode, whether or not an error is thrown visually.  Normal installation may appear successful, but the program freezes or otherwise will not work.

I reinstalled with the "Repair" option without uninstalling and cleaning the registry, since virtually everything will be overwritten anyway.  Before running the program installation, open Task Manager, find Explorer.exe and end the task.  Click "File" to start new task.  Enter "explorer.exe" but tick the box to "Run with administrative privileges".  Start the program install and click "Repair".  Reboot the PC for good measure. The program will work perfectly unless there is some other problem..

On slow PCs, the program normally appears to freeze.  Be patient and give it a few minutes at every step.  Make sure you are using the latest version of WD Edition on Windows 10.  Microsoft continually updates W10 that sometimes breaks the PC or certain programs, especially with older hardware.
