Stuck on Applying user settings after click Open Acronis true image

Thread solved

Hi, Everyone.

May I ask your expertise to address an issue I am having. My Acronis True Image 2021 was working fine, but suddenly I cannot open the interface. It is stuck on a splash screen where it try to Apply user settings. I have downloaded the latest version and try to perform a Repair and reboot but still same issue. Is there any other way to fix this issue without doing a clean install?

If there are no other option, how can I backup my configuration so I can just reload the settings after I do a clean install?

Edited: My apologies, just realise I post this on the wrong thread and can't find the way to move this to the right forum.

Regards.

Reymond, welcome to these public User Forums.

One potential cause of the issue you are seeing is if one of your backup task script files has become corrupted for some reason.

If so, then with the ATI GUI closed, open the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder in Explorer and you should see one or more .TIB.TIS files stored there.

Moving the .tib.tis files out from this folder should allow the ATI GUI to open normally but you will only be able to move the files if Acronis Active Protection is turned off, which may present a Catch22 if you can't open the GUI...!

The way around the AAP issue would be to change the associated background service so that it is not started automatically, but is Disabled instead, then restart Windows without launching the ATI GUI, then try to move the .tib.tis files.

See forum topic: True Image GUI doesn't start. where the same actions resolved this issue for another user on an older version of ATI recently.

Hi, Steve.

I have followed your instruction to move the .tib.tis. I can now open the GUI but it is too slow, it takes 15 minutes before it opens. When it opens I need to reconfigure all the backup and the GUI is not responsive. When I select an option it took ages before GUI becomes responsive and sometimes it no longer respond and I need to end task.

Is there anything else I can do?

See KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - and perform a Repair Install.

Hi, Steve.

My apologies for not getting back to you, after I have followed your instruction. I was able to open GUI, unfortunately the backup configuration has disappeared. Anyway I will just re-do it. Thanks for the help.
