Universal Restore of Windows Server 2003 with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation w/Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Can I restore Windows Server 2003 to dissimilar hardware with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation with Acronis Universal Restore?

I am not getting the "Use Universal Restore" option, and I suspect it is because I am
trying to use the Workstation product to restore an Windows 2003 Enterprise Server.

The Universal Restore option is required because the target hardware LSI SAS disk drivers are not present in the *.tib.

The .tib backup of the Windows 2003 Enterprise Server was captured using Acronis True
Image Echo Workstation with Acronis Universal Restore disk; that was all I had at the time.

What Acronis product will enable me to restore this .tib file to dissimilar hardware using the Universal Restore option?

Note: Since the Windows Server 2003 has already been relocated, taking a new backup of it with another product is a difficult option.

Thanks
David

Hello David!

Welcome to our Forum, it's nice to have you with us! I understand your concern, and will be glad to shed the light to the situation.

Unfortunately your assumption is correct: as Acronis True Image Echo Workstation supports only Workstations OS, it's Acronis Universal Restore won't recognize server OS either. And as far as Acronis Universal Restore cannot detect the supported OS in the image it won't appear.

In order to restore the image I'd advise you to use Acronis Backup and Recovery Server for Windows + Acronis Universal Restore. The GUI in this Acronis product is different, so you might find these instructions with step-by-step screenshots useful.
