ADD v11.0.216 fails creating logical partition. Need assistance

Thread needs solution

I have a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system, with a 320GB SATA drive that has 220GB of free space. I have been using the Acronis Disk products for many years. I've never had any problem with the prior releases of the software. I just recently upgraded to ADD v11 Home and now I'm having lots of problems. When trying to create a logical partition I now receive the following error and the process trerminates. Here is the error I'm receiving:

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home
Version 11.0.216

Error Occurred:
Text: The command uses a missing object
Code: 00360198 441E730962703F63

Suberror:
Text: The command contains an incorrect ID.
Code: 00360197 58A1AE92511B0306

Press to reboot

I'm not unable to create any partitions on my drive because of this failure. I was able to create partitions using ADD v10 with no issues. Has anyone encountered this type of error? Has anyone found a resolution? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. It is very frustrating to use a reliable product that now seems to be failing more frequently. Thank you for your assistance.

Have you tried either re-installing DD11 or running a repair install?

Hey,
I have the same problem as steve02 :
Running on vista
When trying to create a logical partition I now receive the following error and the process trerminates. Here is the error I'm receiving:

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home
Version 11.0.216

Press to reboot

I have tried to start as administrator, all rights given, same problem ??
Can anyone help me with this please!!!!

This sounds as though something hasn't installed correctly or hasn't made a correct registry entry.

Have either of you tried my first suggestion of a repair install?

Do you have UAC enabled in Windows?

What firewall software are you using?

Are the drives compressed or running Bitlocker?

As you are using Vista/W7 could you post a screen snip of your disk layout as shown in DD11.

Hello,

New as user of disk director and unfortunately, I have the same error as described at the top but running on XP,
I send a request of help to Acronis, but can not find any suggestion to solve the error on the forum, so is there any solution?

Please let me know

Thanks, and best regards,

I have the same problem. I have been using Acronis products for over 10 years. This error makes version 11 not useable. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the same issue. Running latest and greatest build, tried un/re installing to no avail.

Do any of you with the problem have compressed disks?

To find the common factor here we probably need to see what type of setup people have.

So are these machines 'Heinz 57's' or are they brand name machines?

If they are brand name whose?

Are these all Sata drives or IDE or a mixture of both?

As the OS's seem to cover all recent ones, it obviously isn't OS specific.

Are all the drives NTFS and if so what sector system are they using - old style 63 sector offset or new style 2048?

The partitions being created, are they logical or extended?

How was the free space obtained - already there or by DD11/10 creating the free space?

What does Windows Disk Management report on the free space?

It take it this error occurs on restart from Windows to the Linux based system.

Does the same error occur if the DD11 rescue disk is used to perform the action?

If yes, does the ISO version available in your accounts cause the same problem?

Is everybody using the same build?

Has there been another disk management software used such as Partition Magic to perform disk actions?

For those who have had DD10, did you install DD11 over the top or by uninstalling DD10 first?

Did you obtain DD11 via download or on a retail CD?

Are these all English language versions?

The latest US English release is build 2121 does the problem still exist if you use this?

I just bought and downloaded this software today. I am having the exact same issue. In my case the error occurs after the required reboot to Linux.

I have the following laptop/software:

Dell Latitude E6510
Vista Enteprise SP2
ADD11 Home version 11.0.12077

My company requires that all laptops run Bitlocker for full disk encryption. I am guessing that the Bitlocker encryption may be the culprit so I am going to try to turn it off. I hope Google will help. (I have the Bitlocker key)

I had the problem upgrading from ver 10 to ver 11. Tried a dll fix from support and it only worked part of the time (Not on making boot disks).

They released two more version of 11 and they didn't work either.

They made one more custom version for me but it failed to install.

I formatted my XP partition and did a fresh install of current ver 11 and it works great. I have linux ext3, Fat32, and NTFT partitions.

This is an update to my previous post.

I disabled Bitlocker (I didn't unencrypt the data). I tried to resize the NTFS partition again with the same result. This is very frustrating since I bought this stupid software so I could install RedHat EL 6 prior to my RedHat Certified Engineer class which starts tomorrow! I wanted to have the software on my laptop so I could do work in my hotel room if I needed to do so to reinforce things we went over in class.

I am going to ask for my money back.

Darryl:

I'm pretty sure that you will need to unencrypt the Bitlocker-protected partition before you will be able to resize the partition. Disabling Bitlocker is insufficient.

I'm new to using Bitlocker having just recently encrypted an 8 GB flash drive. Upon examining its contents with a disk editor, all of the sectors of the drive now contain data even though the drive contains very few files. So to partitioning software it would appear as full of data and unable to be resized.

Try the operation again after unencrypting the drive.

Darryl,

I have a feeling that the drive has to be unencrypted, but Mudcrab knows more in this area than I do.

My immediate suggestion , would be to downlaod the free VBOX virtual software from Oracle and then install your RedHat in a VM.

That is how I have my Solaris set up.

I had the same issue on trying to Resize my partition (Windows XP, SP3, Dell Laptop)
But I was was able to proceed by using the Bootable CD version of Acronis. When selecting the media type to create I selected: "Linux-Based" and "Windows-like representation". The bootable version recognized my drive, and the data on it. And though it took a good 20 minutes (with almost no progress indication), the re-size was successful.
Hope this helps someone.

Hi! I had that same problem exactly:

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home Update 2
Version 11.0.2343

Error Occurred:
Text: The command uses a missing object
Code: 0000000000360198 441E730962703F63

Suberror:
Text: The command contains an incorrect ID.
Code: 0000000000360197 58A1AE92511B0306

Press ENTER to reboot.

However, there is a pattern: if Acronis Disk Director is able to execute the change WITHOUT REBOOTING, it goes just fine. If it requires a reboot, then for about a year now, I have not been able to complete the partition change.

However, thanks to Lalit Mehta's suggestion above, I tried running it from the recovery boot CD that I created and it is able to complete my partition change from THAT platform when it cannot complete it when running from the regular OS (Windows XP SP3). Thanks Lalit!

It's sad this problem isn't fixed yet after 2 years of it being reported. It appears the script being written for execution at boot time simply has an incorrect ID written into it. Simple software bug. :-(
