*.tibx not visible for Backup that are not in history

Thread needs solution

I have several times to install new the ATI and i have also several older backups they are not in the history of the new installaion.

I have access to the older versions, can open them scoll inside and can select anything.

But if i select any file or directory of this, ATI want open an *.tib-file.

The only way to restore from this old tibx-file is to copy them to an *.tib-file.

I think this is not the right solution.

Is there any way to ship around this or forgot Acronis this point?

Detlef, welcome to these public User Forums.

Do you have ATI 2020 installed and working correctly on your PC?

Only ATI 2020 & 2021 support working with .tibx format backup files, these are viewed as being corrupt by all earlier versions of ATI.

You can use the option to 'Add existing backup' to add any existing backup files (.tib / .tibx) to your ATI GUI Backup panel list.  The option is found by clicking on the carat 'v' to the right of the '+ Add backup' option shown near the lower left of the panel.

See KB 63240: Acronis True Image 2020: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) - and scroll down the document to the section showing how to open .tibx or .tib files in Explorer by double-clicking on the files.

Hi steve,

yes i´m running ATI 2021.

The problem is the following:

If you open the backupfolder with windows explorer (win10), explorer opens the backup and you can select one directoy/file.

When you copy the selected with right-mouse or ctrl+c and you will insert it to an other directory on your local computer the  explorer asks for the last volume of the backup.

This last backup exists in the directory, but explorer set internal filter to *.tib and you see only *.tib-file.

It isn´t possible to select any tibx-file.

If this backup is in history of ATI, you can cancel this window from the explorer and your selection is inserted.

If the backup is not included and you cancel, nothing is done.

i hope you can understand my problem.

Detlef

I have not come across any other users reporting this type of issue and not encountered it for any of my own PC's.

Does this happen with all backup files, i.e. those using .tib and using .tibx format?

When you get a message asking for the last volume of a backup, this is normally caused by a mismatch of information stored in the internal database used by ATI and the actual files that are present in the storage location on disk.  That mismatch is normally caused by deleting unwanted backup files using Explorer (outside of using the options provided by ATI).

The options for this type of scenario are to perform a validation of the backup chain to ensure that all required files are present or else any missing files are ignored, or to force the database to be rebuilt, so that all the information currently held is removed and only data for valid files that are present on disk is held in the database.

See KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - for details of forcing the database to be rebuilt.
