True Image life of it's own
Hi,
I just rebuilt my Windows and installed TI2021 latest version out yesterday. After making 4 full backups during several steps of Windows install. I decided to go back to and restore third image of 4 (forgot some updates). After an hour I started seeing multiple copies of my backups appear on my backup explorer.
I called support and asked why I was seeing multiple versions of my 4 initial backups. He just said remove them so I did.
Five or 6 hours later, everything came back plus one more copy of everything (LOOK AT IMAGE) I only had 4 backups listed 5 hours ago. Those with green checkmarks.
What is going on? I have never seen this before and I've been using TI for a long time.

Hi Steve,
I essentially had to copy the files to another drive because the first time I deleted the duplicates I lost all my images. The funny part is with any of the last versions of TI backups that were out of the backup folder did not show in the backup panel. Now, I see everything on the computer. I never did a search for the backups on F drive so I don't know why they show up on the panel and I don't know why I have duplicates.
All I want is to have the initial backups show (GREEN CHECK MARKS). I don't know what's going on.

If you copy any of the .tibx files, then you really need to keep the drive holding them disconnected from your PC when using the main ATI 2021 GUI to avoid the duplicate files from being discovered!

Zardoc,
The issue appears to be duplicate file names in the same folders on your drives. If you use the same name for files in the same location this confuses ATI.
If you select the duplicate entries in the GUI, the ones that display the i in the blue circle, does the GUI show a Backup now button? If it does and you select that what is the result? What error do you get?

Steve, I never copy backups elsewhere because I never have seen this happen since I've been using TI. I copied the original backups to another drive because I wanted to see what would happen if I deleted the copies that got created (see first image) Copy and backup got deleted. So I copied back the backups to the backup folder I have. 5 hours later this whole bunch of copies appeared in the panel.
Hi Enchantech,
As you can see new backups are created with name but have dates so no repeats. I only created 1 backup of each of the ones you see with a green check mark. If I choose the ones with an I I get RECONFIGURE not Backup now.

Okay, so if you select Reconfigure I believe you will be taken to the backup destination location screen where you can navigate to and select the new location of the copied or duplicate backup file location. It is my guess at this point that when you do that the application will make the appropriate internal metadata adjustments including probably making a file name appendage such as (2) at the end of the file name and that task at that point will display a green check mark like the originals.
The issue with that going forward will be that both tasks will run instead of just the original task so both will run backups. This double backup may not happen however unless you actually run the reconfigured task by selecting the Backup now button which will appear after you complete the reconfiguration as that action is what actually Saves a task which causes it to run as configured.
This is a new development for the application and I am not sure yet what to think of it.

Thanks for the feedback. If you are baffled, imagine me :).
