I would like to know what the differences and advantages of using Acronis VSS compared with the native Microsoft VSS. I have read the article 4729: Using Microsoft VSS instead of Acronis VSS as well as 1512: SnapAPI and I still do not quite understand what one method does that is different from the other.

I hope someone can shed some light on this subject for me.

Acronis VSS and Microsoft native VSS are considered to be two different tools to create volume shadow copies of the data. You can use Acronis VSS Provider (the default option) or the native Microsoft VSS Provider.

The difference is the following:

1) Since Acronis VSS was designed specially for our program, it works faster for our purposes.

2) Acronis VSS produces some errors in Windows event logs that can be safely ignored, they doesn't influence the backup integrity and functionality. Microsoft VSS doesn't produce these errors.

Which errors is safe to ignore?

I get multiple VSS Event ID 12292 and 13 errors.
Is that safe to ignore?

True Image is not reporting any errors after my backups.
