retention rules wont do less than two copies

Thread needs solution

I have FULL BACKUP scheduled weekly..
I have retention rules set to delete if older than 5 days..
execute rules Before backup..

but there is always two weeks worth of backups..
I only want the current FULL backup.. I don't have space to store two on the drive, the new one fails to backup because there isn't enough space since the old one wont delete..

Cleanup won't leave you with no backups at all. So before the current backup it won't delete the preious (and the only) week-old one, and after the backup you get the second one. Simplified archive naming with 'full' backup scheme should do the trick.

I find this in help
"select the Name backup files using the archive name... check box:"

but where is that.. I cant find it in the options or backup config screen..

if that's even what I'm looking for to turn on simplified naming

oh.. that option doesnt show up becasue its a virtal machine with SERVER_NAME_[Virtual Machine Name] variable as the name

that option was added to the latest version of the virtual version..
did the upgrade.. Thanks for all the help
