Single Version Scheme not deleting previous backups
I have Acronis True Image 2020 and have it set up to backup using the Single Version Scheme. However, the previous backups versions are not being deleted once the backup is finished, which I thought was the point of the single version scheme. Instead, it just saves a new backup file but does not delete the old one. I noticed this because the backup drive I was using ran out of room.
I am using a Samsung T5 as the backup drive. Is it possible that the drive is letting Acronis write a new backup file but is not letting Acronis delete the old backup file?

I am having the same problem. I have a weekly backup scheduled, backing up my entire hard drive to another drive, TIBX format, Single Version Scheme. I get a WeeklyBackup-0001.tbx, then a WeeklyBackup-0002.tibx, etc until the backup drive is full. I tried a custom scheme with automatic cleanup, keep 1 copy, and it acts the same. Continues making backups until the drive is full. What good is this? We've been using Acronis for 14 years, purchased 1000's of copies during that time, and I swear it gets worse and worse every new revision. Acronis 2010 was simple and worked reliably, everything since then is bloated garbage.
I followed your advice and downloaded the assistant. Yea, it lets me read the 100s of log files that Acronis creates, but I don't know what I am looking for. I don't see any errors about deleting the previous backups.

Scott, what do you have on the Backup Scheme page for the automatic cleanup settings, assuming that you have set this?
In the interim, you can use the Clean up versions tool to remove any unwanted excess backups safely.
KB 61844: Acronis True Image 2019, 2020 and 2021: How to delete old backups
Edit: sorry just re-read you post - can you confirm that you have selected 'Single version' on the Backup Scheme page?
If doing an Entire PC backup, then you need to look at the Backup Worker logs in the main, with a quick check on the Demon logs.
